clutch problem?

Ok i've got a 5 speed and whenever i'm out of gear and the car is rolling the car revs to about 2200 rpm and then drops to idle and then does it again and again until the car is stopped. Also I sometimes have trouble getting out of first gear. Sometimes when i go to park I'll have the clutch to the floor and in first gear and it bogs like it's going to die and one time it did die. Am i missing something?

It almost sounds like a hydraulic issue. The clutch doesn't seem to be releasing causing it to drag and keep the engine rotating at a higher RPM. What is your clutch fluid like? How many miles on your ride?

I have the same problem. Mines actually reved to 3000 a couple times. It doesnt do it everytime, just every now and then. Most of the time in the morning when its first been started, but it has happend when its been drivin for a while and is warm. My car is tuned to have the bbk throttle body, and i have the stock one on there because the bbk didnt work... I thought that was prolly the reason but now that i know someone else has the problem i am wondering what it is.

I'm not sure about the newer 6's but the older ones don't have hydraulic fluid for the clutch, just an adjustable cable. I always do the cheap little things first like cleaning sensors and see if that helps at all.

It is very rare to find a clutch cable on new vehicles. All new ones are hydraulic.

most cars have a resevoir you can check under the hood, similar to the way you check your oil level.

i've had a few issues with the spec clutch set ups and when they do that it's because the pressure plat is damaged. if you get a centerforce duel friction clutch, that problem will go away.

Is it something that HAS to be done? How much would that cost to have installed?

the centerforce duel friction clutch runs about $350. most transmission shops charge about $400 to install it. if you pamper the car it could last you a bit longer. i was on the freeway at about 65mph when ihit third gear and then there was a loud pop and the she was down. i drove mine for about 200 miles with it making niose untill i broke it. if i were you i would get it replaced with in the next few weeks or so.

stay away from the freeway if you are having clutch troubles. That's just asking for failure.

I still think it's a hydraulic issue.

I don't mean it's the freeway causing it. Just saying it's not the place you want to be when it goes out for good.
