Ball joint?

I just bought a 4.0L 2005 stang, I was getting the car inspected and they found out that my lower ball joint has a deficiency, in his words "it has too much play." Now my question to you all is how hard is it to change out?

On a New Edge it's not hard at all, I don't see why it would be difficult on the 4.0 either. Wheel off, brake & spindle off, rent a ball joint press from local auto store, use that to remove old one and press new one in, re-install spindle/brakes/anything else you had to remove for clearance (not positive here for 05+ for what all needs to move) load up the ball joint with grease (has a grease fitting on bottom), get the wheel back on and you're drivin'.

+1 on the previous post. You may want to remove the lower control arm and have a machine shop press the ball joint for you. Either way it can be done if you know how to take the suspension out.

Ford replaces the whole lower control arm but evidently that isn't necessary.

Man thanks for you help guys, that should save me a bit, the guy was freaking charging me 675.00 with parts and labor, I saw a ball joint online for 120.00 ill just change it this weekend
