Nitto tires question

If the best combination rims for the 2005+ is 18x10 rear and 18x9 front, I have a question about the Nitto tires.

American muscle says "best fit" is 285/40-18 rear and 255/45-18. It offers these sizes in the Nitto555 tire. But when I was shopping around on the site and saw other Nitto's (not that size), there were actual drag radials.

The 555 does not say it's a drag radial. Is it? Is the 555 what I want?

There is a 555 regular and a 555 drag radial. I think one ends in s and the drag radial is 555r or something. So yea the 555s or just 555, i cant remember thats a street tire and what you want.

Thanks Rich. You've been a lot of help. Yes, that is the one I was looking at. I just wanted to make sure that was the right one.

Well I might be able to answer my own question. The r tires are good for 15k street miles.

drag radial is just that, its for drag racing. its a softer rubber, very soft, and i think softer sidewall for traction launching the car. They are great for the drag strip.

Some guys drive around on drag radials all the time and say they like it.

I have mickey thompson drag radials for the track, but i wouldnt own them as my everyday tire. They suck in the rain, truly, be careful in the rain no matter what anyone tells you. and they dont corner as well as my regular nittos. Plus they would last as long as a regular tire becuase of the real soft compound.

I drive everyday on a nitto 555r drag radial 305/40/18 it is a great street tire/drag tire. If you are needing traction, it will do the trick on the street and it is ok at the track.
