Skinnies

I wonder if using the spare tire as skinnies would be dangerous for 1/8 mile track. Now i only have bolt ons, so all you serious powered gt don't try it and all you 1/4 mile bolt on guys dont try it either! What do y'all think, for my set up? It's kind of a stupid idea but just wanted to see if it's worth the attempt. Probably won't do it anyways but I would be hitting 83mph.

The spare donuts are only rated to 50 mph. So no.

actually, they are rated for about 87mph. they are "m" speed rated I called a few companys about this when i was thinking about doing the same thing... after thinking about it, i decided it wasn't worth it.

from the safety standpoint i think you'd be okay, but in reality you would look rediculous doing it. in the 1/8th you'll only get to the tires rated speed for a matter of seconds so they won't have time to over heat. i still wouldn't do it personally, but i don't think you would have any safety issues.

I have always heard that the speed rating is factored with turning force involved. Meaning in a straight line they are perfectly safe to very high speeds. Lots of GTO guys use there spares as skinnies and they seem to work great for them.

clearly a group of guys that dont care what they look like going down the road.

I agree would the gains be worth it? I never gained anything switching from my 18s up front to my stock 17s or dropping the swaybar. the retst of the car just wasnt letting it gain me anything.

Dont know, i thought someone said that deep dish 18x9s with 255s weighed 10plbs more each then the stock 17x8s with 235s. But i dont know if they actually knew that or were just making it up.
