My first GT! completely stock, ready for mods...any advice?

I just bought my first GT! It's an 05 convertible, 5sp. I'm about to spend a few thou on appearance mods, but want to make sure I get to some performance mods in too.

Any suggestions on "best bang for your buck" performance upgrades?

Here is what I'm doing this coming week...

-replacing the stock rear spoiler with a very subtle ducktail/lip

-new wheels and tires from americanmuscle.com (Anthracite Deep-dish Bullitt wheels - 18/10 in rear, 18/9 in front...with NITTO Extreme Performance tires) they seem to look pretty cool, and the price is great!

-black billet grill, with no badging

-flat black ford racing stripes on hood, and hood scoop (plan to get a shaker system down the road...trying to find someone in my area that can do the hood modification and install)

-hurst short throw shifter

-convertible light bar

-side scoops

Thinking about the Ford Racing Exhaust (trying to get it louder than stock, but not too loud)
Also thinking about the lowering springs and re-alignment (was quoted $500 for the package)

Anything other recommendations on the performance side? Runnin out of money, so lookin for the best bang for the buck!

thanks!

I resemble that remark!!!!

Yes pics! Also, I vote Cold Air Intake with tuner combo from one of the reputable vendors as your first mod.

Thanks! I will definitely post some pics. I think the before-and-afters will be pretty cool.

Cold-air intake and tuning does sound like a good place to start. I'm a newbie at stuff like this, but lookin forward to learning all I can, and doing whatever I can on my own.

I've had such a thrill driving the stock GT these past couple of days. Can't wait till my first round of modifications are done. Phase 2 will probably see the supercharger, and the dvd-nav system.

Seems like by the time I'm done, the modifications will amount to what I paid for the car itself! ..and I'll probably never be done...

thanks again.

here's the grill for you. just get the replacement grill not the overlay. get the lower and upper.
2005 Ford Mustang Carriage Works Billet Grille

here's for a cai and tuner. get the tuner from doug and he will update the tunes for future mods you do.
05-08 Mustang GT JLT Intake and Xcalibrator 3 COMBO 05-06 Mustang GT JLT Intake and Xcalibrator 2 COMBO [JLTX2GTCOMBO] - $549.00 : Bamachips, The Mustang Tuning Source

recommend the frpp stingers for your exhaust. don't get any other frpp mufflers. those are the winners.

if you're not set on a ducktail you can get the gt500 spoiler prepainted off of ebay for 110 bucks shipped. it is excellent quality and i have never heard of anyone that got it that was unsatisfied.

Welcome. $500 for lowering spring package. I guess that includes labor. Springs themselves are going to run you about $220. You can install them yourself.

+1 if you can do anything with a tool you can do this. it's about the easiest thing done as far as suspension. DO NOT PAY SOMEONE

Lower Control Arms for the rear are also a must on these cars to stop the wheel hop that is prevalent on most of these S197 cars. Also another cheap modification.

I run UPR's on mine.

I have these.
