Question/Transmission

I purchased a mustang 2006 GT automatic.
I want to convert to a 5 speed.

Any ideas on how/or is it even possible

It is possible, but it could get very costly. You will have to buy the manual tranny, clutch, etc.

you can get a tranny from Rich (Radmustangs), he is a vendor here. Its a brand new take off for about $699........clutch and all that is extra. You would need the car re-tuned for a manual tranny. Lots of work involved. Scroll through the other posts, there was a very recent one about this same topic.

I think that you would need the oaks processor out of manual mustang as well.

S197 Mustang Tranny Swap - Automatic-To-Manual Transmission - 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine

I think the link worked this time. They talk about a swap in that article.

Also read page three in the other thread going on right now about the swap. A guy on there said that a shop want $5000 dollars to swap to a manual. That is probably about right if you are unable to do the work your self.

You can cut cost, you can get a trans for 699, new take off. Retail its 1800.

But its still a lot of parts involved. You could talk to people on this site that went from manual to auto. I mean all the little stuff.

Well good luck in what ever you decide to do. Post if you decide to do it so we can see the project as it goes.
