Is it normal to hear more 'car noise' after installing a new shifter?
After having my mgw installed (with dynamat etc) it seems like i can kinda hear more drivetrain sounds. Kinda like rotational noises. I mean, it doesn't sound bad or like it's a problem, but is it common to hear a little more noise while driving (not during the actual shift, as that is about the same noise)?

After installing my hurst, I was hearing alot of noise. I put down two layers of dynamat. It helped a great deal. How many layers did he put down? Oh, on a side note there is a barbecue at his shop on Jan 31.

Yeah, he told me about the barbecue which i'll probably go to since i only live like 15 minutes away. As for the dynamat, he just used all of what was supplied by mgw in the package

I'm running the original Hurst and I don't have any additional noise. I've installed nearly every single model manufactured as aftermarket to the S197, and can't recall noise in any of those cars. (they weren't mine so noise wasn't likely to be picked up by my ears anyhow)
However, I haven't had anyone come back and state there was additional noise picked up in the addition. As a quick check, pull the shifter bezel up and make sure the boot is seated correctly. If it's open anywhere you will get cabin noise. |

There is a little bit more noise, not to mention now you'll be listening for odd and extra noises. It's human nature. How do you like the MGW? It'll loosen up in a few weeks.

I have a MGW, but was a bit "liberal" with the dynomat so I have a little extra noise. Nothing that turning the volume up doesn't take care of. I also have the classic shifter assembly and the aluminum part gets a little "warm" on really hot days (85+ Degrees).
