FRPP Hot Rod Cams
So does anyone know of a reputable tuner that also sells the FRPP Hot Rod Cams? Keep in mind I'm still a ways off from buying them, but I am planning for the future. My mod list is as follows:
1) CAI and tune 2) 4.10's (right now I am running 3.55's) 3) Cams 4) Long tube headers From this, I think I will have a really sweat street ride. Now, I had wanted to go through Brenspeed for the CAI and tune, but looking towards the future if I do then I lose out on the tune if I get the FRPP Hot Rod cams. See where I'm going with this? I don't want to proceed with step 1 if that will throw off step 3. Any advice? |

Swap step 3 with step 4 and your good to go. Very good list to make a very fun car. The only advice I can give you is talk to Rich Aka 07stanggt. He can get you a great deal on the cams most likely. Also, I have a C&L 'Racer' intake and tuner package from Brenspeed. Can't say enough good about it.

I did....but me and Towelly both told him he should do the headers first. i netted 30 horse gain with cams going thru my manifolds....

Yea but you have to pay for the tunes if you didn't get the parts from brenspeed. If you go with bamachips the tunes are free. Once you have major mods then you get a dyno tune

ok i cant tell a lie.....you may not even want long tubes,the manifold the gt comes with flows quite well,i have long tube and there are guys that dont that are as fast and in 1 case a little faster than me,it pissed me off that i spent 700.00 more than them and they are keeping up with me.now thats not to say that around 450 rwhp long tubes wont flow better but under 400hp put your money else where u wont be disappointed.

bama or bren are both verygood...tillman speed is the best and will price match any ..but who the hell has time to wait on chris rose to get anything done ?shit that boy never calls back and is slower than sht,
ps radmustangs is selling the 127200 nsr cam cheaper than you can get it from comp andfree shipping and he gets them right out ...best deal in town, |

I've seen a few "swap 3 with 4" posts. Why is it necessary to do the long tube headers before the cams? Obviously its best to have both; the headers allow the cams to breath better and the cams take advantage of the headers extra flow. So from what I've heard, cams add about 25-30 hp. Is that on a car already with LT headers? If not, what is the difference in HP gains between a car with cams and a stock exhaust and a car with cams and LT headers? From what I've read so far, the stock exhaust actually flows reasonably well. I think this is proved by the fact that shorty headers don't really do much at all to improve HP. So, while I would agree that from a "logical" build perspective you would do the headers first, I'm thinking from an actual HP gain perspective I would be better off going with the cams first. Sound right?
