Did I F&$! things up on my new sct x3?
Well I wish my first post here was a more heroic and victorious one but it's not. I ordered a cai/tune package from Brenspeed last week which arrived about an hour ago. The JLT went on perfectly and I then plugged in the tune. The problem is that I ordered my tunes in anticipation of installing 4.10s. The dealership where I bought the car refused to do the instillation for fear of taking on the liability that comes, apparently, with making one of their cars a little quicker. So, I'm all excited about the tune and plug it in figuring I can deal with the speedo being off. I can't--I live in an area swarming with cops waiting to pop you for playing music too loud or going 5mph over the limit. So I pull over and check out the options on the x3. I notice it allows adjustments to the custom tunes I received from Brenspeed. So, I scroll down to axle ratio and see a check mark next to "stock" as opposed to "4.10." Confused, I put check mark on 3.55 reinstalled the tune and drove off. Everything seemed fine and of comparable performance to the original tune. My question is whether I somehow erased the tune by trying to adjust it? If so I guess I should put it back to stock and make one hell of an embarrassing call to Brenspeed. I'm glad to be a member here at last and anxiously await your various opinions.

check your options for the return to stock option.( for the whole tune) if it is still in the xcal you just got rid of the gears part. welcome to the forums.

I'm not sure what you are saying. But anythnig you change can be undone by reloading Brenspeed's tune and just picking the option tonot modify options. What you need to do to fx your gears is got o load custom tune, pick the brenspeed tune you want, ie: 93 octane, and then when it asks if you want to edit options say yes (not keep previous or whatever). Go to gear ratio, change it, and load the tune. It will load everything the way Brenspeed set it except the gear ratio.

in 07 the manuals came stock with 3.31's unless you chose to upgrade to 3.55's. it was a factory option that cost more. i know this because i ordered my 07 and paid extra for the 3.55's. if you have an auto you have 3.31's
so the question is which gear ratio do you have? then all you have to worry about is uploading the tune and selecting the gear ratio that is correct. no big deal man. |

I wouldn't be too concerned about calling Brenspeed either. The tuner can be a little intimidating if you don't know how to work it - I'm sure it won't be the first call they ever received, won't be their last and they can send you what you need to fix it online if you have indeed messed something up.
Welcome to the boards!

You're fine. Its just the way the programmer works. Everytime you load it up and try to modify it'll show default settings, not what the tune is set at.

Well I took it down on PCH this morning (5:00 am) where they have one of those "your speed" displays. Three runs at 30, 50, and 70 mph in cruise control were all spot on after selecting 3.55 on the tuner. And the spinning tires coming out of stop signs with little throttle confirm the tune is still in there
. Thanks to all for the advice.
