Hood struts

Does anyone know anything about hood struts sold by a company called Redline Tuning. I found them on e-bay. They sell two different models Plus and Elite. Longer struts that mount closer to the front of the car then other brand do. They have a 100% feed back. I searched e-bay putting in 2005+ mustang hood struts. They look pretty cool. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, they are good BUT you have to drill into your hood. I got MRT's,, no drilling and OEM color matched. To drill or not to drill..that is the question. All are good. I originally bought Redline but did not want to drill into my hood...I sold them and they really are excellant.

I use redlines and am plenty happy. Heavy GT went after someone elses and they couldn't support the hood, he migrated to the redlines as well..

I use them too and love them...they worked really nice on the stock hood and support my Cervini ram air hood great too.

Emay when you changed hoods from the Eleanor style to ram air did you get new double grip rivets like Redline sends? I just used regular aluminum rivets when I changed hoods and they've held up fine. Just curious why their instructions said to use their rivets only.

i like the OEM look of the redlines, you do have to drill holes tho.

I too have them and love them.

To each their own, for sure, but I prefer the more oem look
of the redlines Vs the MRT's. I find the MRT's too bulky looking.

The drilling I found to not be a huge deal.

you would think, being a new car, and the year of 2005+, Ford would have the sense to put factory struts in. We're not in 64 1/2 any more . I mean, even Hyundai's have hood struts now... Hyundai..

I tried the Steeda ones and they wouldn't support the Cervini Eleanor hood! Redlines Elite worked great.

I didn't get the struts until after I migrated to the new hood. Was a christmas gift from my bro.. I'm sure you will be fine though.

Thanks for all the info. Most of my questions have all been answered. I was wondering if they would support a heavier after market hood. They have them on e-bay for $95 for the plus model and $130 for the elite. Anyone know the difference?

The Elites are full stainless steel for the gas tube whereas the plus is a painted steel tube.

I got mine here at UPR and you can read the descriptions of each to see the differences. I went with the Elites and have no problems or rust after a year and a half. Don't sweat the drilling...very easy and the directions are great.
