Pioneer f90bt, f900bt, f700bt... anyone have?

Anyone have this installed in their GT?

I'm ready to pull the trigger on one, but was wondering about the fit. The unit looks a lot smaller that the Shaker1000 headunit. Was hoping to maybe see of pics of one installed.

Also, if you could let me know the good/bad on this unit, I'd appreciate it. Or if you would recommend anything that might be better.

thanks.

I just wrapped up the installation of the f90bt, your in luck as I was going to send out my radio face plate for carbon wrap but was delayed so I can snap a shot of it in the dash, won't be entirely mounted because I'm packing it up tonite.

The fit is perfect. Install kit from metra makes it look nice and clean. Metra harness made things pretty straight forward, although I made a few changes because I'm running a 4 channel seperates amp and a 1 channel sub amp, scrapping the oem junk.

I have zero complants about the unit, if you can, hop in the avic forums at avic411.com so you can hear and see all the hacks that are possible with the windows based software. This thing is fully customizable from icons to interface.

Lastly, I'd go after the F90bt, can be had on ebay for 570.00 to your door. the 700bt doesn't have dvd playback. the 900 does, but loses some functionality and voltage to the lineouts..

I have a P8000BT which should be the same dimensions as the head units that you listed. I purchased mine from Crutchfield and the installation kit that was provided makes the fit perfectly seamless just as Emay was saying. Pretty much all of the Pioneer and Kenwood double din units look great in the S197 dashes.

Metra is just a stereo accessories co. They make installation kits and wiring harnesses.

FYI...If you buy the headunit from Crutchfield, they will give you the entire installation kit free. If you purchase the head unit somewhere else you can still email their tech dept and they can give you all of the part numbers to the items that you need.

If it comes from the ebay one it should be listed. Otherwise you have to buy them separate. Its ok though. They are cheap and allow you to do all the soldering outside the car. Or make the connections anyway. I guess you don't "have" to solder it.

I got mine through Crutchfield as well, but they do charge a premium. The only reason I got mine from Crutchfield is because it came with everything (including the IPod adapter and harnesses) and it was the only place I knew of at the time that had it.

its a wiring harness and mounting bracket so that it can be wired to the mustang and fit in the dash. I believe the bracket and the wiring harness are seperate. I was looking at the F90bt when they first came out but it had terrible reviews and was buggy according to avic 411.com and it was also $1000 at the time.

Emay how do you like it? Are the bugs resolved...like the crappy bluetooth quality, problems connecting bluetooth to phones and the buggy navigation

Mine was $329 shipped with everything that you just listed.

I'm not sure that we could have found it for any less when you add in the cost of the installation accessories.

I got the deck almost right after it came out. It was like $415 at the time IIRC. So I paid a bit more.

Its all good. I am happy with it. Just wish I would have waited like a month to get it. But my Shaker 1k head unit was starting to "CD Error" out all the time. So, I had to do something and I don't feel the need for a DVD or Nav system.

If the price was lowered within 30 days of the time that you purchased it, you can email Crutchfield and they will credit the $ back to you.

Haha. Wish I would have known that. I'm sure I've had it too long now. I'm not real concerned about it. Thank you for YOUR concern though.

Everything is fixed in the 2.0 release except for the boot time in my opinion. I think it can be made to come up faster. It's probably 45 seconds. My Avic Z3 in my daily comes up in 15 seconds or less.

it usually takes me 2 minutes to back out of my driveway anyway so that's no problem for me, except when i run into the bank. I've been debating the f90bt and building a car pc, but the fact that the car pc is always on worries me. Maybe I'll wait until the summer, I may pick up a new car...either something we discussed lol or a GT500

Pioneer makes great units, go for the f90bt, with the prices for them now your definitely getting your moneys worth. I bought my Avic D3 2 years ago for my old car and i loved it so much it came with me into the mustang. The Ipod connectivity is by far my favorite part of any of the pioneers, it has changed my music library and listening habits. I havent used a CD since i bought my D3.

Perfect! thanks. just what I was looking for. looks like a nice clean install. do you have the ability to use navigation (and play videos) while driving? I know there is a way to set that up with the wiring during the install...and I heard there are software "bypass" kits you can buy (saw one on ebay for $15). Any experience with that?

how did you get that Stang image on the screen? are you able to load wallpaper and other images using the minidisk slot?

No need to buy a thing, avic 411 has the wiring config, or I can walk you through it when your ready..

That changes does allow video on the move, and also opens up being able to enter nav directions without having to stop and have the ebrake engaged.

The screen having the mustang is part of all the windows features I mentioned earlier. The f90bt is a very robust and capable unit.. I don't think you would have any buyer remorse whatsoever. On my way to the garage in a bit to get you some shots..

Thanks! And I will definitely check out the avic 411 forum. I'm not very technical, so I will probably bug you when I'm ready to get things all set-up.
