Old school gauge and vent pod - pics

Decided to put in an oil pressure gauge to start things out - but I am tired of funding the Autometer corporate jet. So I decided to try something new. Bought a vent pod and a gauge from the Stewart Warner Green Line series. I really love the look of this gauge. The numbers and the green color exactly match the factory gauge cluster. I'm very pleased with the results:

I was really surprised too. At dead cold idle it's at 70-ish, 80 with any kind of rpm. Once warm, maybe 45 at idle.

I'd really like to see if I'm able to build some sort of gauge pod to sit in the dip part of the console. Saw a thread on someone wanting something similar, assuming I could find the material to put on the finish, I don't think it would be too difficult to throw together.

That looks pretty good though, and definitely a good vent to use, I hardly notice that vent in the first place.

Animal - are you talking about the dip on top of the dashboard? If so, I believe there are already two or three pods out there for that location. Autometer, maybe Saleen? And I think there's another company too.

I know there are, but neither looks like what I'd want. The one is just a pod holder and doesn't look like it belongs there, the other is huge and has a lot of wasted space that doesn't seem necessary.

IMO this one looks nice, not out of place and does not use up too much space... CJ Pony Parts - Ford Mustang Parts

If you like the one above and don't want to put holes in the dash you can do so by taking all the wiring forward to the windshield and bringing it down under the dash. It's far harder to install, you have to lay the wires flat and with 3 gauges, it's tough. Howevere it is doable. There's also some fun to be had on the underside, but If you take the radio out to give yourself some space, you can snake the wires down past the defrost vent assemblies fairly cleanly.

Because that above unit goes so far forward of the dash it makes sense to spend the extra time and not drill. Just in case one ever wants to go back..

I am using that style...no holes in the dash. All the wires are running forward toward the windshield and down thru the dash like Emay said.

they are Boost, Fuel pressure, Water, Oil and Voltage. The gauge in the pod is the AeroForce Interceptor. The glasses are the Oakley Ducati Gascans.
