nitto nt-05

my impression of the new nitto is that i wouldn't buy them. Haven't driven on one, but we got one in the shop last week. This tire will be like driving on drag radials. The tire comes brand new with only 7/32's worth of tread. If you are buying a tire to put on a spare set of rims to go to the track then ok, but i wouldn't buy these for daily driving. These tires are going to wear quick(under 10k miles) and be loud as hell. These are no comparable to street tires like the kdw's and nt555's. I'd stay away from them unless you have the money to replace tires all the time or you want them for the track.

my 555r's have lasted me 11k miles, granted they look damn near like slicks and are getting replaced after the track visit tomorrow, but the nt05 is what i have waiting to be put on so hopefully they are better than the first impressions you got

nitto dr's come with 6/32's of tread. these come with 7. Your not gonna get much more life out of them. They might be sticky, but these tires are gonna ride like crap. They aren't made to be daily drivers.

im not making much power, but they were cheaper than the kdw tires, im dont drive hard very often and i dont take turns sharp either, the kdw is what i was originally going to get but one of my good friends said these seemed like they would turn out to be good tires so i went with the nt05

These tires aren't really made for daily driving. They are made for the weekend warrior that likes to go to the roadcoarse. As with any R compound the ride and NVH are going to be worse. The sidewalls are much more stiff and the tread isn't made to be NVH friendly. Its all about grip.

On the NT-05's I have no experience, but I have read plenty about them and know R-compound tires well. Its all I ran on my summer wheels on my old WRX. I had Kuhmo's, Toyo's and BFG R-compound tires and they are all noisy and all of them have hard sidewalls. Awesome for lateral grip, bad for mileage and daily driving use.

I would get the invo if i were you. they are more of a streetable track tire and the tire comes in so many differant sizes. I don't really want them but will probably have to run them just because of the differant sizes they offer. They are the only tire that comes in both a 295/35 and 245/40/20.

I would run a 275/40/18 on the front instead. I don't know about rubbing issue's on that car, no issues on mine.

305/35/20 nitto drs are up next for me. i hate the 30 series sidewall on the rear with the pro kit. too much of a gap. the only thing i like is the sick nasty tread of the kdw 2.
