Need exhaust help....can't get the sound right!

Hi guys,

So I just completed my second round of mods...this was pretty small compared to the first round (my budget seems to keep getting smaller)

I added an x-pipe splice, and lowering springs. (gotta get use to the lowering...I think I like it though. I'll post a pic soon)

I put the frpp stingers on in the first round of mods, and I like the sound, but definitely felt it needed something more...something a little deeper and more aggressive sounding. Someone here in the forum recommended I go with the x-pipe splice (frpp), as a cost-friendly option to add some more growl. ... Well, I'm not really happy with it. I can definitely "hear" it, but it sounds more like a higher pitched race car, as opposed to the deeper rumble I'm after. And it really didn't make that much of a difference at all. I read that it should improve exhaust flow and maybe give a little more hp...so it's not all bad, I guess.

I've dumped lots of money so far on the exhaust...does anyone know of anything I can do? short of replacing the whole thing. And one thing that kinda bugs me is I've heard some other guy's exhausts (through videos) and they have the same set up I have, and theirs seems to sound so much better! Could there be something else that I'm missing?

Just looking for some ideas... thanks for any replies.

Next up, I'll be adding the CAI and tune...then down the road I'll finally get the 4.10s.

Have a great weekend.

I don't have much answer for your problem, except maybe a prochamber (that's about as deep as you can get). But the only advice I have for you is that you can't tell squat from videos. My exhaust sounded good in a video, sounds like a can of screaming assholes in person. You have to hear it in real life to know what you like.

I cant agree more, I am having the same issue with my new X pipe. I like the sound at idle but through the power curve its really tin like. I think I am just going to do long tubes with an off road h pipe. Videos dont really give you perfect results. It does get expensive if you have to keep changing it though.

What your hearing are the flowmasters and x pipe mixed

to the op, i guess you like the stock h and stingers but wanted it louder?

Best thing for you guys to do is wait a month, start hitting some car shows and find a car you like and ask him what he has. But that still doesnt tell you what it sounds like inside the car. Good luck with any o/r H inside the cabin. can you say drone....

There are 2 reasons why I'm getting a catted H.

1. Not SUPER loud and no uncontrolled sound with drone(rich pointed it out)
2. To be emissions legal

Dont bet on it. The H im talking about was catted.

Check out these videos, kooks catted h kooks race axle backs and kooks catted X kooks race axle backs, The h pipe might sound deeper and better in this video but its sounded so damn bad in the car I didnt want to drive it. Zootoxn said it was making him sick to his stomache the drone was so bad. and in reality the h was the raspy set up not my x pipe. It has to be a combination, you cant blame the midpipe, you have to get axle backs made with a h or x in mind. Any muffler kooks made you can bet was tuned with a x pipe. Just like stingers were really tuned on the stock H pipe.

Flows, who the hell knows but there were meant to be a stock replacement.

I was going to point out that your car already HAS a catted H. Then I remembered that you were going to get longtubes so nevermind lol.

In my experience the H sounds deeper, but a lot cracklier and more raw, mor elike a redneck pickup truck with glasspacks. The X is higher pitched yes, but much smoother and more refined. Plus it makes more power.
