350Z versus 2 mod 2007 mustang GT

Okay, My second part of my 2 mod mustang (2007GT 5sp, CAI w/electric water pump) is to be installed in one week. I'm looking at around 33HP over factory (333HP total ). My pal from work is driving a stock 350Z 6 speed. He has extended me an invitation to a local track (mostly long straight shots) with 2-3 turns. Should I try it ? what are my odds of even competing here ?

Dig race him and you have a guarenteed victory if traction isn't an issue. Which it shouldn't be.

Good, with 333HP Ill do what I can. Im going this weekend. Ill drop 93 in the gas tank just for good measure. He knows I'm slightly modded on the 2007GT ..still thinks he will win.

no, it looks raised in the back, almost like a small cowl hood.

Are you going to put a tune in for the CAI and a 93?

yeah you should beat him, but of course it will also depend on which of you is the better driver. you should beat a 350Z but if he is the better driver then he very well might win. either way though i would go for it. after all he is asking for it and you might as well bring it to him.

oh and yeah if you're not going to put a tune in it for the 93 octane you might as well go ahead and use the 89 like the computer is tuned for.

All aftermarket CAI's require a new tune. With the new CAI, with out a tune will run lean. Also, the car is tuned from the factory to run 87 not 93. With out a tune, the PCM could go into "Limp Mode".

Well if the 350 is stock you should be fine. I work at a nissan dealership, and i have driven a couple z's. They have a good amount of low end power, and their insane weight distribution makes them quick in and out of turns. Let me know how it goes though. Guys at work always ask me if i think i can take a z.

I have a CAI that did not require a tune. You are right about 87..I now only burn 87/89 as anyting higher gives me a knock. My CAI is this one:

nice. damn, you know what ? After spending way too much time looking at after market mods for the new stang, Im finding that just sticking with a regular air engine (no supercharger/turbo/nitro) and producing power is doable. I could probably get near 375HP and spend less than 4K with bolt on goodies and not worry about the extra stress a supcharger can place on an engine. I mean 330 HP and I spent maybe 600 $
