Stereo???

Anyone know how to remove the stock stereo or have a how-to write up, because I got a new double din that I want to install, but not sure how you get the old one out. Thanks guys.

First take the shifter boot and handle off.

The leather boot just unclips from either end of the console.. The shifter handle itself spins off, counter clockwise.

Then you have to take the console off. Open the rear storage compartment. You will see two 10 mil bolts in there, take those out. The rest of the console is clipped on with speed clips. Lift up firmly on it.

The two kick panels on either side of the stereo cluster are also speed clipped on. Remove them by pulling them straight back, towards the back of the car.

Once you get in there the stereo itself is bolted to the dash by four bolts. You will see it when you get this far.

btw, that shifter removal is for a manual car. Not sure if you're stick or auto.

I can't tell you how many times I've done it. I could probably do it in my sleep by now. It's very easy. Just remove the shifter boot. Remove the two screws in the center console. Pull the E-Brake handle up all of the way. Remove center console. Remove the two trim pieces that your inside knee hits while sitting in the seat. Once you do that you'll expose 6 bolts that need to be removed. Than you can unplug all of the wires on the back of the panel. Once that's done there is just four bolts holding the radio in and than you can follow the previously mentioned "How-To" guide.

Do you know where I can get the dash kit and wiring harness?

Yea like nasty stang said, its very easy and gets easier every time you do it. Dont be intimidated by the length of the write up, its just meticulous to better aid your average joe.
Funny story, when i swapped mine out i went to unscrew the bolts under the center console lid, and they weren't there Kinda freaked me out at first like wtf had been going on in there. However it saved me a good 30 seconds tho off my install time

Metra sells a great dash kit, im sure someone will post the part number.
The wiring harness can be had from Crutchfield: LCD TV, Car Audio, Home Theater, Speakers, Plasma TV

Yeah if you can use basic hand tools you can do it. I've had the entire interior out of my car 4 or 5 times.

I use SonicElectronix.com or Crutchfield.com .. I'd buy the Metra dash kit. Whenever I do radio installs. I'll bring the harness' inside, solder and heat shrink everything. Than once that's all done, I can go outside and throw everything in pretty quickly.
