Beefier belt tensioner?
How many F/I guys are running an upgraded belt tensioner? I am trying to figure out if I will need one? As some of you know I have an install scheduled for May of this year, I am having the following installed:
Brenspeed Vortech V3 kit (non chargecooled) Race delete plates Mac Lts Brenspeed offroad x stg. II thumprs the blower kit will only be pullied for 8 psi but I have seen a few threads on other sites where guys were shredding belts and ended up ugrading their belt tensioner as they were bending the oem one. Do you guys think I will need one? If I need it I will get it but if I dont I will not. I am not sure if the guys who upgraded were all positive displacement blower guys or not but it appeared that way, any centri guys upgrade?

The ThumpRR tensioner is the best around.

I'm running the Roush tensioner they use in their P51 Mustang without any problems. Bought it from Dyno Joe Performance for $199. I've heard nothing but good stuff about the Thump RRR Racing Tensioner but it will cost you over $300 plus cost of pulley.

I upgraded mine also to the ROUSH tensioner when I added the supercharger, more for piece of mind. Never had any belt problems with it.
Ordered from JDM $189

on every S/C install we do, we include in the price a Roush Tensioner. I run one on my Personal car and run the hell out of that Motor without a single Tensioner issue.
The issue comes up when you are on and off the gas quickly, causing the tensioner to "flex" and it will break.

The Roush TVS comes with an upgraded tensioner, no issues with it so far.

I am leaning towards the Roush tensioner but the steeda is a great price but it looks like a stock tensioner with a billet plate welded to it.

I picked one up from BGGPerformance a while back when I picked up their 8-rib conversion. No problems so far, but the Steeda piece is priced really well and they always make good stuff.

i have the thumprrr and a 8 rib kit. these are probly not necessary to run at 10psi or less. but i was having belt slip and pulley squealing so i went off the deep end and got them both. i know it's overkill but at least it'll be there when i need it. if you want the balls best, get the thumprrr.
