warming up the stang

what is the best way to warm up my 06' GT. i normaly just crank it up then the rpms go up then when they get back to normal i just take it slow under 2K rpm. until i see the temp. start to rise. Is this a good way?
( ive always heard, it s better to warm a motor up by driveing it.)

I start it, come back inside for 5 minutes, go back out and drive..

just start the car and leave it and let it warm up on its own.

Your doing fine. Either your way, which is easy on the engine or like they said let it idle for 5 minutes or so. If its cold out, I start my 07 GT, turn on the heater, and come inside 5 or 10 minutes.

As an absolute minimum make sure your oil pressure guage has stopped moving up before taking off, then try not to burn rubber till your engine is warmed up.

Letting it idle is the worst thing you can do for your engine. The mechanic at my dealership, and the local guy I use for everything else both said that 30 seconds is the longest you need to let it idle after start up. It doesn't take long for the oil to get pressurized into the internals, at least this is what I was told. I let mine idle very little.

if i am driving it a very short distance i let it warm up long enough to get up to temp to prevent sludge build up....im not a expert by any means just what i have heard from several knowledgeable people. if i am driving it a decent distance i will just let it run for 30 sec to a minute then take off

its definitely not bad to warm up the engine...... no matter what you should always at least let it warm for 1 minute
