Talking

looking for new headers

hello,
i was thinking to change the headers of my roush mustang, cause i want i better/louder sound on it. soo i dont know anything about brands an wich one would sound better for me. i heard American Racing or Kooks are one of the best brands for headers. but i dont know what headers and i dont know if i want shorlty or lenght headers. also i heard the shortly headers gives more bass in the sound and length gives kinda Sharp sound maybe?
sorry my english is not as good as would like cause im from spain and i heard this is the best place to ask about mustangs...
thanks for everything

Welcome to MM.

Kooks are the best.

LT's are best for overall performance. Shorties make a bit better bottom end torque.

What all is done to your car, and what else do you plan to do in the future?

Nice.

I was referring to what any plans may be performance wise in the near future though.

Everyone has an opinion, and yours is kooks as well as alot of others. But in the recent 5.0 magazine, the Macs outperformed kooks and the other headers they were put up aghainst including bbk, jba, hooker, and 5 or 6 others.

You can get Macs ceramic coated for about half price of Kooks. And the power gains were better. And most comparisons, you only get 3-5 hp/tq diffrence in just about any header you test.So is that 3-5 really worth the other 400-600 bucks?

Dont get me wrong, I have Kooks on the GT500,but if I wever switch them, they will go to a procven header with a ceramic finish at half the cost with better power....Man that was a long run on sentance. lol

You might want to look at the article again, kooks made the highest average gains, mac was just like 1 hp higher on peak. considering we dont drive around at one RPM, even racing, kooks easily made more power from 4500 to 6000, its only really the average power in that range that matters, LOL, you shift when you hit peak, and are no longer at peak.

Add in fitment and warranty, there is plenty of reason to buy kooks.

Look me up for the Kooks if you like, or the any header for that matter. But i can get you a good deal on kooks.

The difference in the two links you posted is that one is just the headers, the other is the headers and mid pipe together. you need a mid pipe, the headers are not going to mount to your stock mid pipe

You can get catted or no cats, x or H crossover on the midpipe. The link you posted is a catted x pipe.
