Stock dyno
I plan on starting my mods in two weeks, but i know the purpose of modding your car is to find out how much gainyou get. I wanted to get it out on the track, and on the dyno, just to get a baseline. I dont feel like spendin ght emoney for a dyno though. I have seen a lot of baseline numbers for a stock 07. Does anybody have an honest to god knowledge of what a baseline horse and torque are?

Good question. Though I don’t have the answer, I’m terrified of the dyno. I've heard horror stories of blown engines etc. A close pal of mine blew his 05 with a stock motor. I decided long ago that I know what factory told me regarding HP and T, I then use the #'s that the mod guarantees and will subtract 3HP for their exaggeration. I then know I have maybe a ballpark #. I spent nearly 30K and I really don’t want to blow it up

google a S197 specs and see what they say the HP rating is and subtract 10-15% from that and that should give you the stock rwhp.
mine was 260x.15=39-260=221rwhp

260-270rwhp, on a properly calibrated Mustang dyno.
Dynos do not blow up engines, retarded operators do, and I find it also hard to believe that a stock engine expired on a chassis dyno, during a pull. Bottom line: Dyno it before and after on the same dyno, with the same operator, regardless of the dyno type-people are all over the place with their numbers, from dyno to dyno. |
