depends on the size of the turbo and what you want. I love screwchargers. They make an extreme amount of airflow very rapidly at a certain RPM. Once they start making larger ones compared to the size of some turbo chargers, I think they will start to dominate.

i prefer turbos... superchargers have their ups... their main power stream is very high rpms, where as turbos boost and provide power at lower rpms... but hey... Im just a blow thru kinda guy

Whipple!
And when I say that, I say that with pride. When you buy the whipple kit, you get everything you need to do the job. You get a twin screw supercharger, intercooler, 10 psi pulley, Ford racing zero degree spark plugs, Shelby GT500 fuel pump, ford racing fuel injectors, custom calibrated tune by ford/ford racing/whipple, all necessary hardware, piping and wiring and a well organized detailed instruction guide and overall, POWER!!! I could not be happier with my whipple. the best thing about the whipple is that it was designed with the life expectacy of the stock internals in mind. 10psi will put you at an astonishing 475RWHP and a well designed tune so that you can be re-assured you won't be saying bye bye to the motor within a few months. that is one of the MAIN reasons why I went with this kit was the expectancy of the stock interanals. turbo's are nice, but they do have a thing called Turbo Lag which is something I'm not into. with a supercharger, its instant power, no lag! |

whipples are great for torque and streetability.... prochargers are great for more peak power compaired to the whipple.... turbo is great overall performance. great peak power, less wear on the engine, more power at the turn of a nob...
all kits will come with everything you need. turbo kits actually come with headers, intercooler, blow off valves, wastegates, crossover piping, down pipes, tuner... so in actuality, the turbo kits come with more product. |

The correct answer to your question is that there is no "best". There is only "different".
You need to narrow your criteria by defining what it is you want to do with your car, and how you want the car to feel and perform. Beleieve me, you will get plenty of people tellting you that whatever you decide on is a mistake, simply because it isn't what they have or like. I have a Vortech w/ aftercooler, and am making 470RWHP on a very conservative tune. My car is just a toy, not a daily driver. I am very happy with my decision. the power builds from 2k rpms, and is a progressive surge. Easy to launch the car, and drivability is excellent. THat being said, I'm sure I would've been happy with a twin screw unit as well. For me it came down to what me and my installer were most comfortable and experienced with. Good luck. |

roots/screw type build boost really quick but produce alot of heat which decreases hp.
centrifugal run cooler and are very versitle. each has its pros and cons but i like centrifugal better. its really a matter of opinion and what your gonna use it for.

some people are roots style s.c biased.
truthfully turbo is almost always faster how many turboed GTs run low 11s on 10psi...NOT ALOT AT ALL now reverse that...how many roots style s/c sit at low 11s on 10psi at about 18psi KB and whipple s/c start hitting low 10s (03-04 cobras not GTs) 18psi on a GT with turbo thats not a bullshit turbo like t3/4 will SMOKE a 18psi s/c GT

turbo is better on an engine then a s/c
and certain turbos will kill even roots style s/c's off the line those cars you see doing big wheelies...thats turbo

you need more than just boost to be hittin those real low numbers. suspension plays a huge roll. they all have there pros and cons. eventually i will put a kenny bell on my car cause i love the instant power those things make
