10/14 bolt valve/cam covers

This may have been asked B4, but i couldnt find anything in the search, SO here it GOes..It seems Ford changed from a 14 bolt to 10 bolt pattern on our valve/cam covers somewhere in Oct. of 06 for the 07's.

My question is: Will the 14 bolt covers line up with the 10 bolt pattern? Are they interchangable?

My guess is the holes are still in the block and just arent used. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks

Yes, considering FRPP did not change the design. I've got their valve covers on my car right now with only 10 bolts in them and they have holes for 14. No problems.

Nasty's correct.. All of the coring people are interchanging..

I have a set early 06's on my car as I had Heavy GT's powdered so I wouldn't have any down time. Mounted fine, no problems..

They are a black krinkle finish and they have been 4 sale for awhile...he's asking 150 shipped, at the moment

That set on ebay I showed you Luke...went for like 50 something...but they were redish..I probably should have picked those up...

I'm in no big hurry... I was just curious if they were interchangable or not

The ones that went for $50 were Texas burnt orange (I'm an Okie so gag me), so they wouldn't have worked very well with the GO. The black ones are the way to go...they will look gorgeous with the rest of your stuff under the hood.

Will that krinkle finish accept a vinyl decal? Or would that be a mess......

or with all the other stuff I have GOing under the hood, should they just be left black with nothing on them?

I'm assuming that vinyl on the wrinkle wouldn't work very well. I love the wrinkle finish, but decided against it for that very reason. I was telling David that I was thinking about using the powered by ford emblems instead of decals anyway though.

There is one problem with them though... You are fine putting the 14 bolt covers on a 10 bolt head and skipping those 4... BUT... I found out the hard way that you can't put 10 bolt covers on a 14 bolt head... My Livernois heads are cores from an 06 model... A friend of mine polished my stock covers so I tried to use them when I did the motor swap only to find several points that leaked oil...

Not to hijack, but have any of you guys seen the BBK valve covers on a car yet? I'm looking at getting a set when I do my cams.
