Hood pin dilemma
Here is a pic of a Suncoast dual scoop ram air hood just like mine. I need to know if anyone has this hood and used hood pins or if anyone has any idea on how the pins in the pic were mounted under the hood. They look like a fairly standard set. I have been in contact with Ring Brothers that makes a set that replaces the bumper stops but they are too close to the side scoop rise. If anyone has any clues about these pins and how they mounted I would really appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks, Chance. |

Wow man that's awesome. Thank you. I was looking at the Ring Brothers set but they want $250. In the pics it looks like the set being used is the Cobra set and they are under $100. Plus their base is not as wide as the Ring Brothers which was my problem. His hood is similar to mine. We both have about the same amount of scoop rise in that location. Should work. Thanks again.

oh snap! I never posted "After" pics on that thread once I was done! of course... they aren't quite "finished"... I have to drill out the hole the pin goes through so that the pin can sit at an angle (instead or perpendicular to the vertical pin), at the same angle as the hood rise in that location. Right now, only one corner of the pin is touching the plate that is drilled into the hood, which is obviously not ideal. Let me know if you need any pictures of what the holes look like drilled out. Also, it's a lot of precision drilling, cuz these hoods are two layer fiberglass... you have to make sure the holes allow for the arc of the hood when it opens. Anyways, good luck! And welcome to the forum! These guys are awesome!
P.S. I love the shelby pins, they are absolutely beautiful, and I get comments on them all the time. Anyone who knows anything about cars who sees them always comments about how high quality they are. I'd highly recommend them.
