Stupid question
ok i know this is going to sound stupid as hell but get over it. Can you put 3v heads on a 2v or 4v short block. I know the top ring on a 3v is higher on the piston that the other two, just wondering if that's the only differnce or if you need to use 3v pistsons if you were building an engine

you need a 3v piston in most cases unless they are a fairly deep dish piston for boosted applications (low compression). There are a few different things, including the block type. Most of the older engines were iron blocks, a tad bit heavier than your aluminum block. Most all of them are the same design, so you can use them in a 3v. Motor mounts have to be changed up a little. Im not saying ALL of the older 4.6 blocks will work, because I dont think they will, but you can run a standard 4.6 iron block as far as I know with just a few changes.
