Boost Brothers headers have arrived!

I won an auction on Wednesday for Boost Brothers LT headers. Friday night when I got home, they were on the front porch. Talk about quick shipping! I haven't had a chance to pull them out of the box yet to look at them so I can't give any idea yet on quality, etc. I will take pics of them soon and post those up. I know I need O2 extensions, do I just need 2? I talked to the shop who does the work on my car, they quoted me $300 for the install. Does that sound reasonable?

I would say 300 would be a good price I've heard people charging 500 for a 10:01:26 AM header install.

Congratulations! I would say 300 for install is a pretty good price. It will probably take 5-6 hours to do so thats 50-60 bucks an hour which i think the normal rate is 75.

lol, thanks. It was only my second trip to the track with the TR6060. I was a little spoiled last weekend. It was 50 with a good tailwind, I was able to pull off a 12.98. Today it was about 75 with a pretty stiff head wind. The best I could muster today was a 13.26. Points start next week, hopefully I can find a sweet spot and run a consistent time.

Just an FYI. My Boost Brothers LT Review - MustangForums.com

Looks like the fitment is less than perfect on the boost brothers lts. I would plan on the shop charging you more than $300 because they probably aren't planning on having to dent the headers in different places to get them to fit.

Hopefully your headers will fit better than his.

Best 60ft was 1.78, I averaged about a 1.83 over 5 runs

I had an email conversation with Boost Brothers. They said one pipe will probably need dented to clear the steering shaft. He even gave me directions on how to do it. I informed the shop of this and they didn't seem concerned. They do a lot of work for me so I give them a lot of $$, they cut me breaks now and then.

That seems like the most retarded business plan ever. Lets make headers and not even test the fitment, then tell the customer to take a hammer and dent the header before installing it. First of all they should have designed the header not to hit the shaft. Second of all they should at least be denting these from the factory. Denting the header is going to reduce performance and also reduce the strength of the pipe. With the giant temperature range that headers operate at, the metal expands and contracts a lot which is not good when you have a thin weak spot in the tube from hitting it with a hammer. I just wonder how long it will be before a customer either puts a hole in their header trying to dent it, or until the hole breaks open after some heat cycling.

Hope it works out for you and hopefully your shop will be able to bend the header without damaging it too much.

that's awful.. I'd pay the extra for a properly assembled product.. If I couldn't afford it, I'd save longer..

That review said 12 hours for install, with two dudes. One of which had experience. I'll pass.. This is a 4 hour job tops for an average wrencher and there are more economical headers that fit properly anyhow. Boo on Boost Brothers.. send em back..

I agree about the denting decreasing performance. It would occur to me that a high velocity of airflow would need the smoothest path possible through the header tubing. I mean all that air is flowing super fast, then it hits a bump-a.k.a an hammer caused indention in the header tube for more clearance.

A few dents in a primary is not gonna do anything in performance. Maybe if it was 1/2 crimped shut then you'll have a problem. Be realistic.
