Brakes?...

I was wondering what would be the best setup for brakes. Did some road racing last weekend and the stock ones didn't hold up at all. Ive looked into getting a big brake kit or even the stock gt500 kit but i don't think they will fit with the foose nitrous 18's in the front. Should i just get new rotors and pads? Any ideas?

If you have fitment issues EBC makes a slotted and dimpled rotor that's the stock size. Don't get drilled rotors, they will not stand up to the heat. Good quality pads, Hawk or EBC come to mind. Ceramic ones would be my choice here. Braided brake lines will help a whole lot too. Along with the proper brake fluid, needs to be a higher temp one than DOT 3, will make a huge difference in feel and braking ability when your brakes get hot. Road racing takes promotes a lot more heat, which is the enemy in braking.

Quality rotors like Powerslot or EBC. Quality brake pads like Hawk HPS. Stainless steel brake lines like Earls or Goodrich. That should help but it won't be anything like a big brake kit unfortunately. I feel your pain though. I want a big brake kit but want to be able to run 15" drag wheels, too.

Stock rotors, a good set of pads, stainless lines, and a high temp fluid will get you what you're looking for.

Stay away from any rotors that are drilled, slotted, or anything of that sort because they are not designed for that kind of usage.

Are you sure about that? I'd be willing to bet this thing can outstop us ...

Not to mention this car, BMW M3 (Race Car) ...

Of course a $10,000 set of brakes on a Corvette ZR1 will withstand the heat. I am talking about brands such as the the ones you mentioned, powerslot, EBC, ect...

Not until you drop a ton of cash on brakes will you get rotors that will last on a road course.

I've never had a problem with Powerslots on road courses. I can't speak for EBC and. I hear the GMS rotors are pretty bad though.

I am assuming that his car will see frequent track time. If it will, then he will have problems eventually, if it will only see the track 2-3 a year then he will be fine with the slotted rotors.

Wow, what ever happened to this website. I mean the only person on here now that gets the BS flag thrown on them is a 14 year old. And he isnt even trying to fool anyone. I mean at least people use to ask for vids, time slips, pictures, something.

Now we are comparing 15.5 inch carbon ceramic rotors on a vette to......lol, its not even worth it.

I just installed EBC red stuff ceramic pads on some new stock rotors and wow!! what a difference. After the bed in procedure the brakes work better than they ever did before the ceramic material bites well when they are cold and even better after warming up. and hopefully they dont create enough heat to warp these rotors!

Where you at? I'd be willing to let you try one of your wheels on my car to see if they would fit after doing the conversion..
