Oh, I assumed it was for some efficiency reason, just didn't know what

No clue about this new build, but there's a couple cars in the KC area that would have given your old build a run for it's money, there's an S10 out here that runs mid 9s at the track and is streetable, couple camaro's runnin that, and a DSM lookin to hit 8s

LMAO... you obviously aren't aware that my family has 5 NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster National Championships and over 100 national event wins...

Our ex crew-chief, Norm Grimes is currently the owner/tuner of the Y-Not Racing machine driven by Jim Whitely who is currently #6 in the points. We left TAD for Alcohol Funny car 2 years ago.

The moral is I don't think your cousin could put up much of a fight...LOL

Yes that was me and I loved the whipple set-up and the simple truth is I had just taken it as far as it could go. I sold the entire system for this build. I just wasn't going to see an 8 out of that whipple without a ton of juice on top and even then it was 'iffy' out here on my local tracks. You know how it goes, you always want to go faster. I'll see what the 3V can do the rest of the year but the new pushrod going in over the winter is going to take the killer off the streets for good and into another level. I'm done with modulars after this build - too much headache, if I'm honest.

Forgive the stupid question, but are you saying that 1200hp won't do 200+ mph? Or just that it won't do it in the quarter mile?

Thanks

It won't do it in the 1/4 on a 3 link 3700 lbs car - absolutely not. In fact, the winter build which will take the car to 2400 hp and be down to 3400 lbs won't be able to do it either. Not under the rules of the class anyway. You need back half and/or tube cars to get that fast in the 1/4. I think the 3V will see a max speed of around 160 mph at best with 1200 and 187 mph at best with 2400. That's MOVIN' though - it's a whole different animal to get a car in the 200+ mph 1/4 mile range.

Would it do 200 mph at all? - absolutely if it was geared for it but it would take quite a bit of real estate.

Change bodies.....It doesn't seem like drag radial is having that problem.

What are you talking about? It has nothing to do with the bodies. It has everything to do with the wheel base, suspension, and chassis. There is not a 3 link on the planet (even with a ladder bar) running a 200+ mph 1/4 on DR's...

In fact, I don't even think there is a 4 link to ever do it either. Sorry, but I don't think you know too much about going fast...

Please show me a radial car running 200+ mph and I will show you a back half on that car.
