junk in tha trunk

went to get a quote for a custom box for 2 ten's with an attatched amp rack that will be conceiled behind the seat and not be noticeable from the open trunk unless you know how it should look and how deep it should go.
the guy wanted $1300 total price for the box, labor, subs, amp, and a couple other things. about 700 was for the subs and amp and the rest for everything else to include tax of course.

anyone think this is a decent price for a custom build.

Sounds like a reasonable price, but it depends on what brand of equipment we're talking about here as well.I paid 500 bucks each for my two Alpine type-x dual voice coil subs,so it all hinges on what you get.

yeah i just can't think of the brand.....the amp was like 380 and the subs were like 130 each. i listened to the same basic setup in another car they had and i was happy with it. the subs were about half the normal price cuz they are being discontinued since newer models are coming out.

i'll probably go tomorrow and get a couple more quotes first. the place i went was recommended by multiple people

Sounds like a decent price for the amp depending on what brand/output it has,but the main thing is you have heard it and gotten recommendations for the place,so I'm sure it will be fine. I'll be interested to hear what is going in it though.

i wasn't looking to go to a competition or anything so the speakers are rated at 300 RMS and the amp is a 600x2. the one amp will run both speakers.

A good sound system is nice , but for some reason I keep turning the radio off and opening the window to hear my exhaust better lol..sometimes the best music comes with the car.

I agree with that too, and if it wasn't for the fact that I drive mine 3 hours to work and back each week, I wouldn't have bothered putting in a bigger stereo. It helps pass the time and keep me awake when I'm coming home at 3 in the morning.

If the equipment you are looking at is decent, then that is a good price. I just had a custom fiberglass enclosure built in my sparetire well, and that was $900 just for that. It was an involved build with a false bottom floor and removable panel so all is hidden, but your deal sounds decent.
