2006 GT
Hey everyone. I have a 2006 Mustang GT convertible. I'm just about to purchase a Roush supercharger with intercooler for it. Does anyone have a Roush supercharger and do they like it? Also what brand of shorty headers should I buy with it? Please help!

Saleen is a much better blower than the roush!

And shorty headers are not worth anything, they produce no gains, they just alter the sound of the exhaust.

Why is the Saleen a better supercharger? I thought the Roush produced more horsepower. With the headers are speaking from experience. I don't want to spend the money on shorty headers if its not going to give me more power.

There's guys on another board that are pulling their Saleen SC off and putting a KB on because they said over 17lbs and it's inefficient, where as the new KB 2.6 can go up to 24 lbs and still be efficient.
Roush maintains factory warranty because they run low boost. If I'm going to supercharge something I'm going to take it right to the ragged edge. 'diffrent strokes for 'diffrent folks.

Hey Wally...I've got the Roush and I think it's better than the Saleen. I've driven a saleen for a couple of hundred miles and they are good too. I just liked the explosiveness of the roush better. Both are covered by warranty if installed by an authorized dealer. If you're going from stock to any supercharger you will get a perma grin. good luck with your choice. BTW if you get saleen I think you have to get special motor mounts to lower your engine to clear a stock hood...the Roush fits. If you notice the numbered Saleens with a super charger have a higher domed hood....you don't much notice it unless you get in one because your eye is drawn to the vents on the side of the hood. Norm

Thank for the info Norm. I just dropped off my 2006 gt convertible at our local Ford dealer today to get the Roush supercharger put in. Your comment has made me feel better. Also I'm getting some shorty headers and a short throw shifter installed.
Thanks again |

+1 on passing on the shorty headers. if you are going to replace them go ahead and get a set of long tube headers. they are where you will get some real gain. they are much more expensive, but you are actually adding exhaust flow and hp. the shorties are worthless.

What are the long tubes worth for an 07, and are they emissions legal?

Is this true about the long tube headers. Do they produce more hp gains then shorty headers? If this is true then I will need to call Ford tomorrow and change this. I don't mind spending the extra money on long tube headers. Please help with this information.
Thanks |

It's true.
Shorties are proven to give no gain in performance for us. Longtubes if you want any kind of gain. |

yup, longtubes are the way to go, but now you might have a problem with the roush supercharger cause of the longtubes. cause now you'll need to find a way to turn off the o2 sensors or trick the computer into not throwing a CEL. MIL eliminators will do the trick

The Roush dealer in woodburn told the salesman i was buying the car from, if they change the headers the warrenty would be void. The car lot was all for it. but the roush dealer was not, they could be pulling my chain, anyway were happy with the car. JM

The Jet-Hot coated shorties are nice for reducing underhood temperatures.
