I believe there are some internal differences along with the 2004 being a top loader and the 05+ being remote shifted.

Can a top loader be converted to a remote shifter or will I need a whole new transmission. Im planning a swap of a 2004 Mach1 drivetrain in to my 2005 Mustang v6 and want to know if this will be a issue.

the casing for hte TR3650 for the 2005+ is completely different from the 99-04' models. The 04' tranny will not be able to convert into your S197. Its because its a top loader and ours is a remote the output shaft portion of the tranny is completely different and would require a custom fabbed shifter to make it work costing you more money...

Another big difference is the 04 trans is cable operated and the 05 is hydraulic. The trans case is entirely different between the two years. I really don't think one will work in place of the other.

EDIT: ^^^Beat me to it.

guys he said he is swapping an entire drivetrain out of a mach1, so yeah you can make it work. It will be a pain in the ass to fab everything up and get it working RIGHT, but you might get away with it. MAYBE

It would be a lot easier to just pickup an 05 GT trans and bolt it to the back of the Mach motor. Trying to fab up an 04 trans to work in an 05 would be too much work when 05 transmissions can be picked up anywhere.

I thought the 05 GT did not have the Hydraulic Clutch, also will a 05 Manual tyranny bolt up to the Bell housing? I’m getting a good price on a totaled 2004 mach1 with 25k miles and i know it s going to cost allot above and beyond the donor car but when it’s done I will have a 05 mach1 with shaker hood. Plus I got the v6 for cheap and the difference between the cost of a V6 and a GT is at least 6K

The bellhousing on both model years don't separate from the case. All 05 up GT's are hydraulic clutches. An 05 trans assembly will bolt up to the Mach motor no problem and will have all the right stuff to work in your V6 body.

Also, the block is different between the two years so the motor mounts won't bolt up. I understand there is an adaptor kit you can use that allows you to bolt up the 05 mounts to an 04 and older block.
