2007 Roush 427R

I'm working with my local dealer to order a 427R. I've nailed down the color to Grabber Orange and I'm adding the short throw shifter. Anyone know if the 14" brake upgrade is worth it or not? I thought the brakes on a GT were pretty good as is. Thoughts on other options? I'm also curious if ride hight is a problem with speed bumps and such.

Ok, I think I'll look into the brakes. Any problems with the ride hight? I know the Roush suspension lowers the car a bit.

I would highly recommend the 14"s. I think the car only gets lowered 1.5" or so with that kit if I'm not mistaken. Rick

I love the look of the 427R. an Orange one ought to be badass. Will the stripe be black or white? There are 2 of them on a local lot here , One black and one silver. I like how the rear emblem says 427 instead of stage1,2,or3. Congrats on the decision. The ones here are about 45000 if you are comparing prices.

Order placed

Thanks for all the feedback. I just officially placed the order with the dealer yesterday. The car will be Grabber Orange with Black stripes and a Charcoal black interior. I went with all the Roush options except the seats and the brake upgrade. I will upgrade the brakes eventually but I can do better than the $2,700 Roush wanted for the upgrade. The base GT has 3.55 gears so I think I'll leave them alone for a while. I may upgrade to a FRP Drag Pack later down the road after I see what kind of times I get with the 3.55's. According to the dealer the short throw shifter should help me get under 13 in the 1/4 mile. Once I get the car I'll figure out how to put pictures on this site.

I think it is horse power not sure if it's at the crank or the wheels. JM

It's 427 RWHP. These cars are capable of a LOT more than that with just a blower pulley change to raise the boost to 8 or 9 instead of 5. But My "Gracie" is @ 330rwhp and that's a HANDFUL... I can just imagine what another 100 ponies would feel like! SOMEDAY....

I think the 427 hp is at the motor not the rear wheels. According to this article it is 356rwhp http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/18/i...ge-roush-427r/ . Looking at their 1/4 mile times though I'm not feeling too confident about the test drivers at autoblog.

Many Thanks

Thank you all very much. Its great to be able to ask a pretty lame question, and yet have it answered so compleatly and correctly too. This doesnt allways happan at other sites.

In any case, the car is awsome, and sort of makes my 07 GT seem weak if thats possible. Naaaaaaaa..

It's 427 at the crank...drop 12 to 15% off that and it will get you close to RWHP.

It ships to the dealer with the Off Road exhaust in the trunk....dealer has to install as part of prep. The exhaust add some additional HP...not much though.

It's quick....no question.

I upgraded the pulley, new tune from Roush and pulled 393/361.

I was surprised to read the post with the 427R on the dyno with a CAI...I would have assumed a custom tune and better performance.

Is there a CAI available now for the 427R? Last I checked they had'nt come out with one that Roush approved of yet.
