Thinking I might wanna go KB or Whipple....
Any idea of what all I need to do to handle the extra power through my drivetrain and whatnot? I really dont want to sacrifice driveability so... I really wanna stick to a 3:55 or 3:73 gear ratio and not do anything *too* radical with the car

Call up Strictly Performance in Houston 713-910-0111 and try to speak with Richard Lelsz, he owns the place. They build some pretty wild rides. Ask them what they think? They do alot of Cobra, GT500 and GT's over at their shop.

for the driveability just get a track tune and a street tune. you'll be fine with either kb or whipple on the street. you will soon want to upgrade your differential though. i'd say try out the 3.55's with it and if you can go with 3.73's.

I say go with the KB! The 2.8. Because it fits under the stock hood and you can still squeeze more power out of it then your stock bottom end will handle.

but thats off topic, so I will have to call around and see what I can find. I know of a shop somewhere in PA that specializes in GT500 blower upgrades and have a few of their cars making 850+ to the wheels

I wouldn't put anything on there that would have the potential to break things such as tranny or rear end. Even though the car makes enough power factory tuned to destroy itself, I don't think there is any reason to add fuel to the fire. Just my opinion.

It doesn't nearly make enough power to destory itself... The motor is good for mid to high 600's at the crank. The trans is good for the same at LEAST probably more torque than the stock bottom end can take and its a 8.8 for god sakes... Everyone knows its easy to upgrade if it breaks. Which is unlikely, unless you use slicks.

But, I guarantee you that the GT500 makes enough power to break itself. ![]() Just remember, all things mechanical fails at one point or another.

Which is where I come into saying I want to make it reliable, meaning, doing any forms of upgrades to make sure it can take the power without a problem
