Livernois stage II or stage III???
Ok so with an all motor build, comp cams spr stage II. Do I want the livernois stage II heads or stage III. I was convinced for some time that the stage 2's were it, however someone recently suggested some stage III's with those cams and I would net more power, but I don't want to lose low end.
Help all motor Guys!!!!!!!!! |

i'd go with the stage 3's. i don't think the stage 2's have oversized valves. my heads from jpc are almost the same flow rating as the livernoise stage 2's only mine have oversized valves. i must say with my stock gears my low end is hurting. i need to get my truetrac and 4.10's in quick.

I have the eaton diff, and the non-motive frpp 4.10's going in here soon. I just want a amazing all motor street machine, that doesn't suck on low end and can run 11's

There's a guy on s197forum.com that put Livernois Stage III heads & comp stage III cams and is close to 400hp. Not sure on all his mods

I like your setup and I am pretty much going the same way but with a few more mods and less gear(just 4.10's).

I would go stage II. Make someone show you real data like dyno's + not only but + time slips convincing you otherwise. Let me see real MPH and ET's showing me a gain, more hp.....
Take a long hard look at the real data out there on this. Ask youself why so many stage III this and stroked that at the end of the day are only runing high 11s or mid 11s at best on the regular and dynoing at less then 400. Thats how i approached it and it worked out for me. Look at what you want, and what kind of cars are doing what. I know people in the "know" say stage III everything, but i got one question for them, where is the proof, show me. Just figured i would share my personal way of looking at it with you man. Just my 2 cents. Last edited by 07stanggt; May 17th, 2009 at 08:57 PM. |

Didn't JDM put a cyl. head with 1mm oversize valves and ported , ran low 11s and claimed it was capable of being a daily driver ? I'm pretty sure it was a combo like we are talking about .

not an expert here but just looking at the descriptions I was wondering If you could run the comp stage 3 cams with the Livernois stage 2 heads. In the description of the cams it says you can run the stage 2s on stock heads and it doesn't say anything about needing ported heads until the stage 3 cam...
Like I said I'm definitely not an expert, just wondered if anyone has explored this? |

Well, i have kept my mouth shut on this. I dont say this as any dig at JDM. I really dont. But let me say this, JDM did run a 11.15 but a lot of times he ran a 11.50 from what I have heard. So what was the difference? Again thats no dig just a question. He also sold that motor and got a blower becuase he said he wanted a more streetable car? So if it was streetable, why did he say that. Thats a qoute from his thread where he said his engine was for sale. My car is 100% streetable. You will never hear me say want a blower to have a more streetable car. Its like my car, i plan to do some things to it and probably run some 11.30s very soon, i may even push some envelopes and run some 11.10s who knows, but as for 100% streetable, with my 4.10s and with a LSD not a spool.......its gonna go like, ok my car runs 11.50s with the setup i drive around on the street with everyday, but i did run a 11.10...(lets just say,) when i did this. You see what im saying. Last edited by 07stanggt; May 17th, 2009 at 09:12 PM. |
