Anyone out there who had gears installed, what is the average price for install? I checked the dealer and they quoted around 5-7hr labor at 67 an hour. I don't want to let any joe smo do it.

Ace - don't shop around. This is nothing to be fooled with. The dealer quote was a flat rate price for 6hrs. If the tech can do it in 4, all the better. You're paying for expertise. I have 20 yrs experience in the automotive industry, including dealerships. Things like setting pre-load and shimming are best left to those who see the cars every day. What if someone puts the wrong gear oil in?? You're out big bucks. Pay me now or pay me later....

Where at in N carolina are you located? If it is anywhere enough to come to the Va Beach/Norfolk area, then give us a call at Rick's (in signature) and we can set you up. I promise you will not find a better person to do it than Rick.

You get what you pay for. Some things can be shopped around for, like parts, or certain jobs, but I wouldn't fool around with gears unless you're sure the man knows what he is doing.
