Boost Brothers L/T install for 05+ Mustangs

We have decided to do a little write up on installing Boost Brothers long tube headers. This is a fairly easy task when you have access to a lift. Quartermile Solutions in Houston had this job done in less than 2 hours.

Lets Begin.....

Our test subject for this is a 2008 Saleen, owned by David Nguyen.

To begin we removed the battery and tray to give more access to the passenger side manifold.

As you can see there is plenty of room now to get to the bolts.

Time to move to the driver side. Here you can remove the rack and pinion bolt. An impact is the fastest way to get it out. You will be there all day with a ratchet, one click at a time.

Now lift the car into the air. Locate the steering shaft and remove the bolt holding it to the rack.

as you can see, the shaft will not come off of the rack. Refer to illustration #4. using a pry bar. gently move the rack forward and the shaft will slide off.

Start by unplugging the O2 sensors

Remove the factory catted h pipe.

With the cats out of the way you can now remove all the top nuts on the manifolds.

With all the top nuts off, remove the motor mount nuts.

Lift and support the engine. remove the mounting brackets. Be careful not to damage the ground straps.

The new headers slip in with plenty of room.

With them tightened the look good at first.

The driver side header is touching the frame rail.

The steering shaft is touching the header also.

A little pounding and grinding got some decent clearance.
The new h pipe was also a fun, time consuming, and irritating experience. Nothing on this entire setup impressed us at all.....

All in all I would never recommend these headers to anyone. They look great while laying on the floor. In the car on the other hand, the fitment is horrible.

I hope this helps when installing your long tube headers.

I hate that people buy parts that you have to modify to make them fit when you could spend a couple more dollars and get a quality made part. I would never hammer a part just to make it fit

i remember back when i owned a focus i made a zetec cold air intake work for my sohc engine. but they didnt make too many performance products for my engine, so with that in mind with all the long tubes out there some are worth buying and some are not.

My thoughts exactly. "the fit and finish is great, look how awesome the welds look, yadda yadda". I can make some pretty sweet looking welds on a piece of pipe too, but that doesn't mean shit when the part isn't laid out correctly.

I bought a set and when I heard of the fitment problems I emailed them and asked to return them. They emailed back an address to send them to. I sent them over a month ago and still no refund. I've sent many emails and left several messages and have yet to hear back from them. They would answer my email right aaway when I was buying them, now I can't get them to reply to anything. STAY AWAY FROM BOOST BROTHERS.

I agree 100%!! The MAC's are by far the best performing header for the S197's. Not to mention, they fit like a glove.

Aren't Boost Brothers, OBX, and RPM Outlet all the same company?

If they are and I had known it, I never would have bought the Boost Brothers after everything I've heard about RPM>

If they are, myself and many other OBX header owners must have been really lucky. I've never seen a bad review of OBX headers for our cars.

easy call your credit card company and tell them the situation and that you want to challenge charges. get all the documentation when you call; purchase, shipping, return shipping records etc. the card company will refund your account then THEY will go after boost brothers. when visa, discover, am-ex etc call they will be a little more willing to co-operate
