Finally Got Ford To Fix My Bad Synchros

So today I finally picked up my car from the dearlership after two long weeks of waiting for parts to come in. The car feels great 2nd gear synchro feels hard still I guess I just need to break it in. But overall I just happy it go fixed by the dealer and not by me.

I dunno, depends on the dealer. If they know what they're doing, my guess is they might know what to fix on the tr-3650. Mine was rebuilt at 3k miles and has 22k miles now. I'm expecting it to go at 36,100 miles, but if everything goes right this year (knock on wood) I'll have a 6 speed and a whipple by that time....

When I picked up my car from having the transmission rebuilt under warranty, the service manager grinned and said the transmission was now better than new, being hand rebuilt. I would have believed him initially if the clutch had been bled correctly....

ford replaced my transmission on my 06 mustang (when I had it) at 3,000 miles for the sound it made at 1k-1800k. They gave me lip saying i was shifting too soon. But that would mean i would have to shift constantly well over 3.5k rpms to not get the noise. right........

glad yours got fixed, too!

Maybe you guys can help me out when I bring it in to have them look at it...I went to a dealer that was really close to me a few months ago and the guy was being a totall cock from the get go. He was like " ive never heard of these trannies having any bad synchros...maybe you have been power shifting to much". Anyways I dont want to get into a huge fight with these cock sucking service managers. Any advice on the best way to approach this would help!

That guy sounds like an ass, these cars are built to be powershifted. I'd tell that numbskull he needs to know his product better... but he's probably bluffing you because he's too lazy to go and check it up with Ford. This is an issue Ford is definitely aware of. I'm starting to get tired of the poor service I get lately where people think they know their product and are too lazy to double check on the offchance that they're wrong. Then the excuses all come out when they get corrected.

Go to a dealer that'll honor your warranty and knows there's a problem with the transmissions? They rented me a car for the two weeks they had it, probably since I bought the car there.

Or just bypass the dealer and talk to Ford. Emay had good advice about that earlier in the week in a different thread.

BTW, how do you like your axlebacks?

I have an appointment Tuesday to get my 1-2 & 2-3 synchros replaced as per this TSB issued by Ford earlier this month. The TSB is here in this thread about half the way down in PDF.

Thanks for posting the link!

It's interesting to see the symptoms of two distinct problems in that, A) torque binding and B) tr-3650 bad syncros. You'd think Ford would save money for themselves and their dealers by recognizing their problems and being more proactive about them.
