No Whine!

Just got my gears put in and was relieved when I went for a quick spin and had no whine from the rear end. I've heard horror stories about screaming gears and am very happy with the results. $265 for the install; I thought that was a pretty good price from a very reputable shop. This place was recommended by everyone I asked in the area including the Ford shop manager and the boys in the local mustang club. For anyone in the Sin City area, Adam's Driveshaft in Henderson is the bomb!

No vid camera, sorry, I do have a pic of my new rear end cover though! It's all pretty and shiny and stuff. I just don't have a pic with it on the car yet.

Thanks Rich. I'm just waiting on my BBK valve covers to install the last of the parts I ordered from you. Then I get to go shopping again!!! Boy, did I just sound like a chick right there? Sorry.

They specialize in custom driveshafts. The owner was talking to me about an aluminum one piece for about $390. After hearing this price I bumped that mod up a few on my to do list.

07 Boss, did you have the bearings replaced? I am having my 4.10 gears installed in about two weeks. I have the master install kit. My shop is installing the gears for $250 + $100 for the new bearings. My car has 29,000 miles I was told by others, not the shop I am going to, to replace the bearings.

No, didn't replace the bearings, but I only have 13K on my car. I don't know where the cutoff is to get them or not. I guess it depends on how the car was driven and what kind of wear they may have. There is nothing wrong with getting the bearings done early. Peace of mind and knowing that you won't have to do them for a while may be worth the extra few bucks.

Thanks Nasty, I always try and get a little bling every time I do a performance mod. Keeps my car's "chi" in balance and brings good fortune.

How do you like the gears and what did you have before? I'm getting them installed next week and have high expectations. Any regrets?

I had the stock 3.31's and switched to 4.10's. No regrets, but have only run about 15 miles on them. The car comes out of the hole a lot better and pulls hard. If you do the math, you are basically adding about another 25% more torque. I know that's not a completely accurate response but it sure feels like it.

good to hear no whine i was scared to death of the whine.i love my 410 gears would have loved to have goten that ford racing cover butt not enough so to pay 180 dollars for it.mine is a auto and with my cai,93 race tune and now 410 gears.it is now a neck snaping tire ripping ass hauling car now. before my auto had a lot of lag now it feels like a manual the way douge has my shift points. it will pin you back in your seat and you cant lean forward if you wanted to. i love it but if you drive on the highway at 80+ mph for a long period of time it will drink the gas fast.but in town i have gained probally close to 2 mpg with the gears.

I have an auto too, and the gears and Doug's race tune really woke my car up. I used to do a lot of manual shifting with mine to keep the engine in the the range that I like. Doug and I have been messing around with the shift points to get try and get it to where I like it and we are almost there. Hopefully with the gear change, it might be right where I want it. I'm going to run it around town for a few days and see how she runs before making any other adjustments.
