rear main seal s197

had oil leak.ford changed the rear main seal and motor plate.Leak came back the next day.Looks like the 6 week old saleen supercharger has a defect and is leaking.According to brennspeed it is the first one ever.Ford is pulling it off today,as oil is in the valley between the heads.Should know something later today.

Let me get this right, Ford repaired a rear main thinking the oil was coming from there when it was really coming from the blower? If so, poor diagnostics and poor attention made during the dis-assembly to get to the assumed problem. Any joe would have noticed the trickle was starting too high to be a rear main.

Sucks to hear, hope it all sorts out real quick..

+1 to Emay. How did they think it was the rear main if it was the supercharger??? I wouldnt go back to that shop, and if you do I would request a different tech.

well I havnt seen alot of rear mains on these cars go out, but I work on diesel mostly so what do I know. It could have very well possibly been a rear main AND a supercharger leak (not likely) but possible. I see it on diesels ALL DAY LONG, they have a rear main leak AND a leak in the valley. Gotta start at the top first and work your way down. (thats where the dealer messed up).........Yes, he could have seen a rear main leak and repaired it, but he didn't notice the other leak. (his fault).........I ALWAYS start at the highest point when checking for an oil leak. But as a tech, I guess you can say i'm "taking up" for the tech that did his repair work lol.........

Looking at it in all reality, it does look like he misdiagnosed it.

But you also have to consider, he is most likely not use to messing with superchargers. Alot of techs arent. (they don't ever have to mess with them)...........Hell I am willing to bet there is alot of GOOD techs out there that don't even know superchargers have oil in them, not because they are dumb, just because they don't mess with the things lol

The dye check showed the main to be leaking. The oil under the supercharger does not show this. Both where leaking. This mech.does all there supercharger work-roush and saleen.None off this has cost me a dime. The leak was coming from the motor plate. It looked like the factory sealant didn't hold so it was all warrenty. They also put in a new centerforce clutch (i bought)with no labor charge.Looks like brennspeed will supply a new supercharger but i will have to eat the labor for the install.Brennspeed nor ford will cover that.but the dealer is going to cut me some slack on the labor.Should know more today.

Found fluid on driveway tonight, Not sure which, too tired and too dark to look at it hard. Will look in the morning, it is between the engine and tranny so I am wonder if it is rear seal. I will have to compare the fluids with the dipstick and the drippings......not happy at all. Not this soon in the season....dammit!
