It is very necessary. Don't fuck up and waste your new clutch...

The 500 mile break in is very important, if you don't follow it you will most likely fry your clutch.

The little shudder you are feeling off the line sounds like clutch chatter. That is a normal characteristic of the Stage 3+. Because of the materials that make up the clutch disc you will not be able to smoothly slip the clutch as you would with the stock setup, what is happening is the disc is trying to "grab" and engage and because you are slipping it is not able to do that smoothly and thus it jerks a bit. Hope that makes sense. But I would take it easy for the next couple hundred miles.

Bingo.

BTW, Derek: I am going to try to get that harness from our local Ford, but I may have to get it from you. I can't get the guy at Brandon Ford to understand what I am wanting over the phone, so I am going to go down there this afternoon and see if I can draw it out for him. I really don't even see what is so hard to understand about wanting just the main ECU harness??

Well if you end up taking it out because it doesnt work, chances are it wont, go with a RAM. I wont go into the trouble I had with a SPEC and their customer service. You can find it by using the search function.

Every company has a few trouble customers. Spec has always been great to me- easy to access and always taking time for questions and to give help.

love my stage 3+. well over 120 passes on it, and 80 of those have been launchin from 6200 on a 10.5" slick. so, i know they can handle it. a little chatter is normal though, mine has always done it. its a noisy clutch...
