So what are you going to replace that stock valve with? A new OEM valve or an aftermarket one?

I would begin to guess that a inconel valve is an intake valve.

inconel is an alloy usually just used on exhaust valves; it has capacity to remain effective at extremely high temperatures, highly resistant to corrosion. Added heat of n2o and FI they are a must... I just got 'em all inconel; just to be sure.

Not saying the one that Rich is replacing is NOT inconel; if it exhaust valve, it is/ or should be w/ these heads.

Thanks JPC for catching this and saving the head from coming off.

Here is the culprit, exhuast valve spring on #2. Car is running like a champ again. I think it picked up 15 hp from my new coil packs, maybe 20

No idea man. about 20k on those springs. quite a few 6500, 6900, some 7500 revs. Lot of revving up and down thru the twisties. the last time i really beat on the car was my bad runs at the strip. Whenever I posted those 14 second times. few missed shifts that day. Other then that, i play around on exit ramps every chance i get, down shifting and hitting the ramps. but usually i shift at about 55 6k on the street at most when i play around. It happened at cruise speed going 65, so maybe it got cracked at some point and just gave out that day.

Ill call livernois tomorrow and see what they say.

It would make sense that the spring being compressed so much from high revving somewhat frequently would make it end up cracking. In a way your car is kind of like a race car, so you have to somewhat expect things like that to happen once in awhile. Thank god it wasn't a valve.

7000 RPM is real hard on a valvespring. On cars that live as hard as Rich's, it happens. Luckily it didn't cause any other problems though.

Glad it was fairly minor rich. What brand are those springs?

I'm sure you want to hear the answer from Rich urban, but since Rich got his SPR Cams and Livernois Stage 2 Heads(which come with upgraded valvetrain) installed at the same time, I am almost fully sure that his springs are Livernois brand.

Thanks I appeciate it. it worked out well. Lucky as always for me. Its just the rears i have issues with. LOL.

Whatever comes in livernois stage II heads. Im assuming its the springs they sell on their website for like 150 that are suppose to work with stock retainers.

Im not really complaining. I know the beating it takes. Most guys would be afraid to do twice what i do on the regular to this car.

Livernois makes their own springs? Not sure I believe that, they'd probably be made by comp or some other spring manufacturer.
