Damnit, I wish I would have know that. I was going to wait till he got back to have him send them to me. Oh well, it can he done without using them you just have to have a trusting friend hold the cam gear while you switch out the cam.

+1, thats how I did mine. Worked out pretty good, just make sure that the followers don't fall out of place when tightening down the new cam. And tighten the cams down gradually front to back as there will be pressure on the camshaft making the back stick up.

how do you know the torque is correct on the cam journals with the spring pressure working against you?

ya i figured out how to do it without the 'high tech' tools as i was running back and forth from my computer looking at 07pro's write up.

if i can not only do it, but also figure it out....it cant be that hard.

also, get some Lucas assembly lube to avoid a metal-on-metal dry start up

If you roll the motor just right before starting the swap you can get it to where there is barely any pressure from the the three springs that are pushing against you. Just make sure you have a good torque wrench that measures lb/in because I tried using a lb/ft one set at 7lbs and broke a journal bolt.

Exactly.

you can't really, but it can't throw the readings off that much can it? I would of used the special tools if I had like $300 to spend on tools that I would only use once. I haven't run into any issues yet (knock on wood)

I suppose your helper can apply downward force on the cam shaft while you torque the bolts down.
