CNC Porting, Fox Lake or Livernois
I want to get my heads ported but I have a late build 08 GT with the newer style spark plug. No body has cores for these instock so I have to send my heads out to get them ported. Ive narrowed it down to Fox Lake and Livernois. Do you guys prefer one or the other. Fox Lake is about 2-3 weeks to port and Livernois says about 5-7 days. Down time really isnt an issue. Ive searched and found both are reputable. I talk to Ron at Fox Lake and I like that its a smaller shop and Ron seems stand up but Livernois has its reputation. Im looking at stage 2 heads, I have basic bolt on, 4.10s, lt, c&l racer, Comp 127500s. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

if they both CNC port, I know Livernois does...they will be VERY close as far as performance goes.

They both CNC, I compared flow numbers which both look good (no velocity #s). One thing that kinda scares me is the problem you (07 procharger) ran into with Livernois....

Its cool Rich, I know you got a lot going on right now with your ride.....
Sorry by the way.... Damn I wish they had the 08 heads, then my ride wouldnt have to sit for 4-5 weeks. Should I upgrade valves or move to stage 3 with my mods?? I want to stay all motor. |

So you called livernois and they said no on the 08 heads? I dont really beleive in stage III heads on a street car and/or on a n/a car. Many people smarter then me would disagree but thats just me. You look at any car n/a running stage III heads and some running stage III cams, they dyno at best the same or a lot lower then me. They run slower, they trap less. the 1/4 is all setup for sure but the point being is there is not one shread of evidence out there that they are better on basically stock bottom end, dd, n/a car. I mean if i were stroked, ported, bored, and 11.1 i run stage III. But i would drive my car like once a month and haul it to the track. If i had to do it all over again, im in stage II heads and Stage II cams, wouldn't change one thing. Last edited by 07stanggt; June 24th, 2009 at 02:31 PM. |

I talked to Rick at Livernois, he said no 08 heads only 05 heads in stock, I was kinda bummed. I hit up Sutton and BBR (no response from BBR yet). Check on my employee price with Ford and bare casting are like $800.00 a side.
I will stick with the stage 2 heads, I already have the high load valve springs and retainers from comp (26125-24) installed on my stock head so that will save some money there. |

Livernois called and said they can get me 08 casting heads in 2 weeks so I dont have to send in my heads which is great news. I asked if I should swap my comp high load springs in in exchange for there springs, they want to check with the shop foreman and will let me know.

Rich's bud GERMANSHEPARD runs fox lake ported heads i believe. OP might want to contact him, he is a member on this board and s197forum. I think one of the ford magazines did an article on the fox lake heads for the newer mustang.....porting was done with velocity in mind according to the article.

Guys i have been saying for awhile Fox-Lake.Dont get suckered into Livernois' advertisements-seem to be having alot of head issues and strokers that are worthless.

Go stage 2, not stage 3 for the street.
