You helped with my last paint question so here's my new one...
I want to paint my exhaust tips black. I know I should really get them powder coated but I'm cheap. What's the best way to go about doing this? I'm planning on getting some High Temp Enamel on the way home tomorrow, but what kind of primer do I need?

Good prep is the key, the rattle can high temp enamels today are all very good products.
Clean the tips best you can, then lightly scuff them with a red 3m pad to put a slight haze to them. This will help your choice of primer and paint to hold very well. For high temp things requiring a primer I use High Temp 1050ZN Primer. You'll have to search for it online, never seen it on any shelves locally. Google it or use price grabber to track a vendor down. Won't be disappointed with the product.

Thanks, I'll look into that primer. I had a friend tell me I just needed to hit em w/ paint and bake them. If I do that do I need the primer?

Primer would be the best way to do it. Baking isn't going to do anything to make it last longer or be more resilient, it is just a curing enhancer. Drying them faster does nothing to promote good anhesion or a long lasting finish.
You can just hit them with paint, the primer is doing 2 things for you. Fills imperfections and provides a great adhesion base. Far better than paint straight to metal.
