Wake up call
Since I havent really BLOGED lately. I'm in the mood.
Excuses. Sorry, 20 degress doesnt equal a 1/2 second. Your tuner lied to you, your builder didnt want to loss your business. Not on this car, not with the pcm doing its thing. If it does on your car then your set up sucks. I got bad news for you, my best time last year was in august, 98 degrees. If you search the internet you would have to come to the conclusion that headers, cams, CAI's, gears, butterflies or no butterflies, trans, and weight on a car have no real bearing on acceleration. I mean guys must think that any port job, any header length and design, and any cam basically makes the same power. If you look at this closely, guys with "heads, cams and full bolt ons think their cars should all be equal, regardless of different brand names and hence different designs. Thats utterly retarded. For that it to even be possible that all our cars would perform the same regardless of differences in intake designs, different port jobs, different cam grinds, different header designs would mean that all this stuff is a waste anyway. Furthermore, just becuase you have a dyno saying cam A only gained 10 more HP then cam B doesnt mean that cam A will only deliver 1 more tenth then cam B in the real world on a race track. Don't bring your dyno debates into the real world. I wont even get into to this argument but a cam that only shows 10 more peak hp on a dyno could easily be good for 3 tenths at the drag strip. You then have the guys with stage III cams and Stage III heads wondering why they just are not automatically faster. I mean if you dont expect a difference in track times on a cam with a .550 lift over a cam with a .470 lift. Why the hell buy any cam. And did you ever stop to think that maybe the 4.56s werent helping you. some guys need to stop whineing about tempature and location and track prep. Here is fact number one, your MPH is your MPH. This bullshit about MPH varying is stupid. Not on these street cars, not unless your doing something dumb. I trap consistent MPH and can see whats going on with the car based on 60ft and ET and then MPH. I also have the same MPH within 1mph on a 90 degree day as a 70 degree day. If you dont, get a new tuner, or make some changes in your car. Dont blame the weather on your setup. Its 3% for every 20 Degrees, worst case scenario. that means that on a 90 degree day to a 70 degree day your talking 12 hp on a 400 engine. One tenth, and your traction will be better anyway in warmer weather. Your 12s might just be your own doing. Becuase for some reason you think that any CAI, any CAM and any header, matched with ANY gear is all the same. I run 11s and low 12s last last year in the summer heat with a stock driveshaft and 4.10s. If you cant do it with a one peice and 4.56s you really need to consider that maybe its not geography. i ran 12.5s with a two peice DS, stock heads and baby whimpy NSR cams trapping 112. Some of you cant do that with ported heads and bigger cams and and even 17 more cubes. Its time to stop talking, stop typing and stop making excuses about correction factors and weather and track prep and get to the track. Hook some DHT up in your trunk yourself if you have too F track prep. Not to mention the fact that it isnt unchartered territory. How come every 11second n/a thread i see on every forum rarely discusses cars that have accomplished it years ago. Look to success, and i dont even mean my car. This stuff was done a long time ago, hell its been done on the stock motor you guys are working with 80 more hp. You jacked something up. November is ass whipin time. |

i think 07 stang makes a lot of good points.and i dont even go to the track but my car is runing like shit in this alabama heat.it somtimes gets in the 100f temps and my car sucks when it does so does that mean my tune or setup sucks i taught that it was normall to loose some performance in the heat?

My car has gained 2 tenths from one day to the next. 1st day, it was about 95 and humid, ran 13.2. Next day it was about 75 and dry, ran about 13 flat. You do make some good points about weight and mods from manufacturer ro manufacturer. But these cars and most other cars are going to change performance wise depending on temp and other factors. I agree you probably aren't going to improve by .5 over 20 degrees unless there were some crazy DA changes.

What were the 60s and MPH different on those different runs. Yes barametric pressue and humidity on these car I think effect it more then heat. 2/10s i can see with the swings your talking about. Anymore then that your making excuses. And 2/10s aint helping some

I will agree with you that a person who hits the track a couple times a year will probably see huge time differences. On top of weather conditions, their starting line routine, shift points, tire conditions, any host of things can add up to a .5 or even as much as a second of difference. The only way I'm going to see that big of a difference is if something breaks on the car or I made a big change to it.
