Drag Radial Size ?
I want to buy some drag radials for the dragstrip. I'm probably going to get M/T drag radials, my current wheels are the 18" bullits. My question is will 18" drag radials hook up as well as 15" drag radials. I don't have a problem with buying rims for the rear if need be.

A taller sidewall will help you hook better. Is an 18" going to be enough tire for you, probably, but taller is usually better.

So with a 15" your going to have more sidewall, so would it hook better ?

The taller sidewall will allow your tire to flex more. The flex kinda acts like a shock absorber with the power from your rim to the pavement. All the torque gets there, it just doesn't hit as hard.

if i had it to do over again i would just get a 15 inch rim and et streets for the drag strip. No point in constantly competing and comparing your times to people with better rim tire setups.
Bogart is at the end of design and starting production on a streetable rim for our car. He said it was like 2lbs heavier then the race rims they sell. So like 15x11 and 15lbs. Nasty. Not sure if you looking to get that aggressive but she'll hook and loose some weight as well. going to cost big bucks though. Just a thought, but yea to me 15 inch rims are the way to go. |

I wouldn't mind getting some Bogarts for the rear. I have set of 15" Weld Prostars I used to run in a fox body but I'm not sure what offset I would need to use those for the time being.

Bogarts, Cobra Jets (Bogarts), Holeshots are the choices for 15" wheels. I'd really like to get some on the rear with slicks but can't stomach the $400 price tag right now. Anyways, if you can get the 15" wheels than do it. I'd recommend going with the Holeshots.

If you want a 15" wheel option besides the $400 dollar a piece then look at this thread and it can point you in the right direction. Combined 15" wheel Fitment Thread - WWW.S197FORUM.COM
