my friend put a reverse cam on his sti once, excpet he had it up front, so left was right and right was left..... he tried to drive with it once, it ended badly

Im just trying to get a camera for the track not drive with it.

Be nice to stick it under the car and see if anything weird is going on in the rear as well.

200 bucks if it works halfway decent at all it seems like a good deal.

I really do want to put it under the car and see what the rear is doing, maybe see whats moving around back there. I wonder if it will work.

So it says it doesnt come with the sd card? i dont see one on their site? just use any sd card?

Lol, I thought your intentions were obvious. Get one dude, I think it'd be cool to see this road racing thing you do from that perspective, kinda like the low view in a racing game.

Watching your rear axle makes me think of a tool called a chassis ear, it has multiple small microphones that you attach all underneath the car and listen to with headphones, then you can pinpoint noises by seeing which mic is closest to the source. But obviously that won't give you video.

i had one of those go pro cameras. its good concept, but the camera itself is very cheap. its made in China and the video it uses is outdated. it takes forever to download from the camera to computer. i ended up giving it to a friend. now i use a regular video cam and a suction cup mount. i'll get the link to the suction cup mount for you in a minute or so. overall i did not like the gopro bc of the cheap camera and the outdated video it uses.

Interesting. When did you have one, becuase that is suppose to be updated?

I mean i have a 800 dollar camcorder, but im not straping that under my car while i drive you know, one rock, 800 bucks gone.

yea, i know what you mean. i bought the go pro for the same reason, it was cheap, and if it fell off or hit something, then it wouldn't be that much of a loss. i had it maybe 8-10 months ago, maybe now its updated. but heres the suction cup mount. i use this with a sort of cheap camcorder.

also, the gopro is good bc it is waterproof. but i wanted more sound so i took off the waterproof case and used an external mic and strapped it to the trunk and the sound wasnt that good, but the mic i used was cheap too so maybe that was it.

heres a vid i shot with the go pro camera and the external mic, i think the poor sound is due to the cheap mic.

yea, it uses a standard SD card, i think the biggest it can use is a 2G card. also the batteries it uses is AAA and they run out pretty fast, 60 minutes or less and you gotta switch batteries. also another drawback is there is no viewing window, its like old school and you just look thru the little peep hole thing and you cant really tell the exact shot you are getting

but maybe its just one of those things you gotta try out and see how you like it.

my buddies have a wide angle hero cam, there alot of fun at the track and messing around, esp for in car shots, you would be surprised with the faces people make when shifting hard!

im wondering what other camera could i try to strap under my car for 200 bucks? I looked in best buy but nothing. Interesting. Ill think about it thanks. did the camer have two differnt sound levels when you used it? yea i dont like the no view screen thing.

thats another vid of highway and just tooling around on the street. youtube blocked the sound bc it has a little music intro.

i have a Canon video cam i bought for $200, it has remote control so i can turn it on and off while driving. this vid is shot w/ the canon on the trunk.

the gopro is good for cutting down the wind noise. where as a regular vidcam picks up all the wind.
