Well I thought you need like ~7" of backspacing.

Weld offers a new line-up of wheels that do fit the S197s though.

You will need 7 1/2" of backspacing for them to tuck without spacers. Check out this thread for just about anything you ever wanted to know about 15" wheels that will fit our cars. I go by ROUSH STAGE 4 over there and some of my research has been documented too. Lotsa great info there...

is the only reason for the backspace to keep them inside the fenders??? I am only going to run them at the strip...

Dude, those wheels alone will stick out 3 inches past the side of the car, plus the tire width... but yeah...that's why. The inside of the wheel needs to be flat too so it won't hit the brake caliper.

If you don't mind them sticking out past the edge of the car, Summit and Jegs make a wheel that is ALOT cheaper and has 6 1/2" backspacing...and it's 10" wide. With any 10" wide wheel you will have to relocate the swaybar too.

If he runs a short enough tire, it won't matter, it won't be optimal either though... I'd just get the old tried and true ones that tuck and call it good....

well I am running a 28" tall tire now... it killed my ratio and all I need is 2 more tenths.
I ended up getting 15x8 with a 5.5 backspace.. MT ET slicks with tubes 26x10... am I going to be allright with this setup?

I read through all 15 pages of the link to s197 you posted... but I am not sure still... well they are bought and they are the Weld Prostars... I have a grinder and access to a set of v6 calipers... they WILL fit!

Did you order Prostars ? I tried to mount some Prostars 15x8 w/4.5 backspace just to see if it would clear the brake caliper and it wouldn't.

I think I might have to do a little work on the calipers... could you see how close yours were to fitting?

I changed... I killed the Weld Prostars and got the Jegs Sport Stars ( Rear : 15x8 W/ 5.5 BS , PN: 555-67077 ,NO Spacers , NO Relocated Swaybar , both front and rear use factory length studs and stock conical style lugnuts)that fit w/o the hastle of making them fit... staying with the 26x10 MT et slicks to put on them.
I am going to go out and run a 11.69 tonight on whats left of my 28" tall dr's.... then when I get the new set up done I will see how low I can go...
I know the guys pretty well out there and as long as I don't run sub 11.50 all night I can get away with one or two as long as nobody complains.. this might be the last good night for a while... it is going to get hot..

Thats a smart choice, because when I measured the space needed with the Prostars, it was like 3/4" needed to clear the calipers and thats alot of Gurindin'.
