help!my brakes go clunk

Im not too sure what the sound could be, anbd honestly havent put much time into yet, but it seems lately when i hit the brakes about 2 seconds later ill hear a single clunk. No rattle in the pedal or anything like that so i doubt its abs. It usually happens just about every time, no matter what speed..just a single clunk or click. Any ideas?

Also when applying force on the brakes for an abrupt stop you can hear that the rotors may be warped they make the vuh vuh vuh vuh vuh vuh sound.

Well as for the rotors being warped; if the fronts are warped you'll feel it reverberating in the brake pedel when you press it. If the rears are warped you'll feel reverberating in the seat.

sounds like one bolt loose... CHECK them, sounds like its the 'good' one to be loose... if this is it, when you find it, youll see.

Who changed your pads??

You may need new pads if they have already compromised wear.

Have you tried jacking it up, taking the wheels off and taking a good look at everything? I just popped my back end up on stands the other night, found one of my retaining clps for the parking brake was loose and it was rubbing on the wheel spindle for who knows how long.

It's simply amazing how simple the systems are, yet how many things can go wrong with them.

Actually, rear brake vibration will almost always be felt in the pedal, and in your ass. Front brake vibration will most of the time be felt in the steering wheel and the pedal. But there are exceptions to both.

Take a wheel off and see if the brake pads move around in the caliper bracket. Sometimes the antirattle clips wear out and when you hit the brakes the pads shift slightly, which can make a noise like that. And do like others said and look for anythnig loose or broken. It could be a suspension part making the noise too.

+1 Urban
Also the lack of lubrication between caliper and pad can do it as well.

yes generally, but in my experience if there is an issue with too much clearance there, lubricating it will help for a short time but not cure it. But too many people do their own brake jobs and don't realise that you are supposed to lubricate certain parts.

Left those out once when I did my brakes (they weren't in the box), did exactly what you're describing.
