Same! Im still hurting over the depreciation of my 05

I am just going to spend the money on building the engine and a supercharger.

Anyone know if the heads (dohc i am guessing) will fit on the 4.6 and if our computers can be tuned for a dohc setup?

Nobody knows much of anything about the coyote (new 5.0) yet, except it wasn't based off of a prior modular motor (4.6, etc), ie it's an all new design. Safe bet would be to wait until people start ripping them apart to see what's what.

The 2011 Mustang GT will have a 5.0 DOHC V8 with a speculated power rating of about 370-400 HP. I don't think that a DOHC head would fit onto a block that is designed to fit SOHC heads like the 2005-2010 4.6 3v block. The DOHC head is considerably bigger because it needs more space for the extra 8 valves that it has. I may be wrong but this is my understanding of a DOHC head fitting on a block designed for SOHC heads or not.

The 2011 Shelby GT500 will have a spread bore aluminum block 5.4 DOHC V8 and it will utilize the Ford GT's internal bearings. There may be more provisions to the 2011's engine but so far, the ones I have listed above are the only ones I am aware of. No higher power rating has been mentioned as of yet.

Why would they change the GT500 again...they just upped the power, doubt they will use an entirely different block

I don't see the 5 liter coming out until at least a 2012 model. Has any car ever lasted just one model year? give the 2010 at least two years with the 4.6

Yep, I found out on another forum, Evolution Performance also mentioned the 2011 GT500 having an aluminum block about 5 months ago:

The Mustang Source - View Single Post - Evolution Performance, Inc. - Super GT500 Twin Turbo..!

I'm pretty sure Ford's initiative is to lighten the GT500 in the front end, which is why they are going to put an aluminum block in it.

The 03-04 cobra use the same block as the GT. One is DOHC and the other SOHC, so its possible. The real restraint is the bore diameter. The valves all have to fit within that, from there its just making it happen.

Thanks for the info, but I still think that putting the 4V heads on a 2v or 3v would be a PITA.
