I like the way the quarter panels flare up on the '10's and the front is growing on me a little bit. I think the back looks like a nissan or something.

OH SICK. 5.0lt engine with 4v heads would be nice. I would scoop that up in a minute. White.

That's the plan for the standard 2010 GT
The 4.6 is going bye bye, and forgive me if I'm not the first to say this but I'm almost certain the 5.4L is also getting the boot

aaaaaand I'm pretty sure the new Coyote 5.0 4v is a modular motor too.

hmm...
every article ive read about it has either:
1-not mentioned if it is modular or not
or
2-said it will not be modular

and i believe that one article said it will be more compact than the modular engines.

Depends on how you define "modular". If you think it means OHC, then no, it's not going away. I don't think Ford will ever go back to pushrods.

If you take it how Ford does, to mean the specific engine family that includes the 4.6, 5.4, and V10, (and maybe one of the V6s?) then yes, it's going away.

Technically modular means anything coming from the modular plant, regardless of how we define it. It comes from the fact that the line can be retooled in hours to spit out any of the different engine combos. Its named for the assembly line, nothing to do with the motor.

And considering there is already a 5.0 engine (not the coyote) based on the modular platform, that can take 2v 3v or 4v heads. why do they need to scrap anything. Seems to me is just the culmination of all the mod motor talk that started 14 years ago.

But alas, why debate it, time will tell.

+1 -- Modular refers to the production line technology, not the actual engine itself. But over the years people have called the 4.6, 5.4, et cetera the mod motors because of this.

The Coyote supposedly shares nothing with the prior 4.6, 5.4 engines, is completely new, and was designed from the ground up to be in the Mustang (unlike the outgoing 4.6, 5.4 motors that were designed at their birth to be both car and truck motors -- compromises that are currently limiting their ability to produce lightweight N/A power...). People also win the lotteries and scientists think they can make an invisibility cloak: all of these things are real rumors. I kid you not.

The point is: we don't know much about it yet. I'm looking forward to next year when everyone's gonna be tearing these things apart and seeing what makes them tick.
